The spy shots confirm that the Suzuki Jimny 5 door is longer and gets an increased wheelbase over the Jimny 3 door. Reports suggest that the Jimny 5 door could gain 300mm of extra wheelbase, at 2550mm, to increase space on the inside. The spy shots reveal that the Jimny 5 door will retain its boxy SUV silhouette with flat body panels and sharp corners. It will continue to get side-opening tailgate with spare wheel mount as well. On the inside, the dashboard design will remain the same as the 3 door model. However, we can see a bigger touchscreen system sitting atop the AC vents.

Will The Jimny Ever Come To India

We recently gave our opinion about the Jimny’s launch in India and you can read that opinion piece here. Multiple reports suggested that Suzuki will develop a 5-door Jimny for the Indian market and export it to global markets as well. Maruti Suzuki are currently manufacturing the Jimny 3 door in India and exporting it to other countries.

While the Mahindra Thar currently dominates the 3 door SUV market, Maruti Suzuki could grab the 5 door SUV space with the Jimny SUV. However, even the 5 door model will come with a 1.5L normal petrol engine. In other Maruti Suzuki cars, this engine produces 103PS of power and 137Nm of torque at 4400rpm. It could come with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
