MG Windsor EV With Larger Battery Pack To Launch In May | V3Cars

JSW MG Motor India have sent a ‘Block Your Date’ invite for the second week of May 2025 for the launch of a new product. While MG Motor are yet to specify the model they are launching soon, we expect it to be the Windsor EV with a larger battery pack and advanced safety features.

MG Likely To Launch Windsor EV With Bigger Battery Pack In May 2025

2025 MG Windsor EV With Improved Range Coming Soon

Currently, the MG Windsor EV, which is offered with a 38kWh battery pack, offers a claimed range of 331km per charge, putting it on par with the 35kWh variants of the Nexon EV (325km). However, the Windsor EV’s closest rivals – the Nexon EV, Curvv EV and the Creta EV – all offer variants equipped with a larger battery pack, offering a range of 473km (Creta EV) to 585km (Curvv EV).

Post its launch, MG Motor stated they would evaluate the introduction of a larger battery pack option for Windsor EV customers looking to drive further or curb range anxiety. To this effect, there were reports that MG could introduce a larger 50kWh battery pack for the Windsor EV. In fact, the Wuling Cloud EV, which is essentially the Indonesia-spec Windsor EV, is offered with a larger 50.6kWh battery pack that offers a range of 460km per charge.

However, a source within JSW MG Motor India with knowledge on the matter told V3Cars that MG could even equip the Windsor EV with a larger 55kWh battery pack. This move will enable the Windsor EV to not only offer more range than the Nexon EV long range variants but potentially match the Curvv EV long range (585km) variants as well.

2025 Windsor EV Likely To Get ADAS Too

Apart from a larger battery pack option, we expect the upcoming Windsor EV long range variants to offer ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) as well. The lack of ADAS in the current model hasn’t impacted its sales much as its primary rival, the Nexon EV, does not offer ADAS either. However, if MG are aiming to compete with EVs such as the Curvv EV and Creta Electric, then the addition of ADAS could go a long way in convincing customers to opt for the Windsor EV.

We expect the Windsor EV long range variants to get ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic parking assist, blind spot erection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, etc.

It is yet unclear if the Windsor EV with the larger battery pack will come in all 3 variants (Excite, Exclusive & Essence) or only the higher 2 trims. It also remains to be seen if MG add ADAS to the existing medium range variants of the Winsor EV as it will lead to a significant price increase, which could affect its competitiveness in the market and overall sales volume. So stay tuned to V3Cars for more updates on the MG Windsor EV.
