Based on previous spy shots, we can confirm the 2025 Carens will receive an updated design and minor changes in dimensions. The front end is expected to feature redesigned lighting elements drawing inspiration from the EV5. The side profile will likely see minimal changes apart from updated alloy wheel designs. The rear could receive vertically stacked taillamps linked by an LED light strip, and a refreshed bumper.

The interior of the Kia Carens 2025 is expected to undergo a significant improvement in terms of features. We expect Kia to offer a panoramic sunroof in the higher variants and a single-pane option for lower trims. Furthermore, Kia could introduce the “Trinity” panoramic display, similar to the Syros SUV, incorporating a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch climate control display. Existing features, such as ventilated front seats, are expected to remain, and the potential inclusion of ventilated second-row seats could significantly enhance the Carens' luxury positioning.

We have learnt that Kia intend to sell the 2025 Carens alongside the current model. While the existing model will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and XL6, the new and updated 2025 Carens will be aimed at 7-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector Plus.

2025 Kia Carens To Offer ADAS

The Kia Carens 2025 will gain ADAS with the latest update, as indicated by sensor modules on test vehicles. This would align it with the Hyundai Alcazar and improve its competitive standing against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki XL6. Existing safety features such as a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, VSM, ESC, hill start assist, rear parking sensors and camera, downhill brake control, and TPMS will be retained.

In terms of powertrain options for the 2025 Carens,we expect Kia to retain the existing engine and transmission options. These include the following:

  • 1.5-litre normal petrol (115PS, 144Nm) with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  • 1.5-litre turbo petrol (160PS, 253Nm) with 6ACMT and 7DCT transmission options.
  • 1.5-litre diesel (116PS, 250Nm) with 6MT and 6AT transmission options.

Apart from petrol and diesel engine options, Kia will offer the Carens with an all-electric powertrain as well. While the exact launch timeline of the Carens EV is yet to be revealed, various spy shots from the last couple of months suggest it is getting closer to hitting the production line. We expect the Carens EV to borrow several components from the Hyundai Creta EV. Thus, the Carens EV could be offered with a choice of 2 battery packs – 42kWh and 51.4kWh.
