2025 Volvo XC90 Facelift To Launch On March 4 | V3Cars
Volvo India have confirmed the launch of the 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift in India on March 4. This updated flagship SUV, which debuted globally in 2024, receives a refreshed design, enhanced technology, and improved comfort, while retaining its core platform and powertrain options.

Volvo XC90 Exterior Design Refreshed
The 2025 XC90’s exterior design draws inspiration from the all-electric Volvo EX90 and other recent models in Volvo’s global lineup. Key changes include a redesigned grille with diagonal slats, vertical air vents on the bumper’s sides, updated “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights, and a new alloy wheel design. The rear also sees subtle updates, including revised LED taillights and a new bumper with a chrome strip.
Interior Enhancements And Technology
The interior of the XC90 facelift maintains its familiar layout but incorporates elements inspired by the EX90. A significant upgrade is the larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system (up from 9 inches). It runs on a Google-based operating system and enables over-the-air (OTA) updates, similar to the EX90. Volvo has also focused on using recycled materials in the interior and improving overall ride comfort. It remains to be seen if Volvo offer the 5- or 6-seat configurations in India, in addition to the existing 7-seat option.
Volvo XC90 Facelift Powertrain Options
The XC90 in India is currently offered with a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine featuring mild-hybrid technology, generating 250PS of power and 360Nm of torque. This engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, is expected to continue in the facelifted model. There is also the possibility of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant being introduced, although Volvo are yet confirm this. Globally, the PHEV option offers significantly more power and torque.
Volvo XC90 Facelift Expected Price And Rivals
The current XC90 B6 Ultimate is priced at Rs. 96.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The XC90 facelift is likely to see a price increase, potentially exceeding Rs. 1 crore, depending on the engine options and seating configurations offered in India. The XC90 will continue to compete with other luxury SUVs in its segment, such as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q7.
