MG Comet Blackstorm Launched At Rs. 9.80 Lakh (Rs. 7.80 Lakh If You Prefer Having 2 Loans On The Car) | V3Cars

We had reported recently that the MG Comet Blackstorm was coming soon. We didn’t expect it to arrive within a day of publishing the news. However, we did manage to guesstimate the pricing (almost) spot on — Rs. 9.80 lakh — off by only Rs. 1,000.

MG Comet Blackstorm Launched

MG have so far only announced the BaaS pricing of the Comet EV Blackstorm and that is Rs. 7.80 lakh. We know that the BaaS vs non-BaaS pricing of the Comet is Rs. 2.0 lakh apart. That brings us to the final ex-showroom price of Rs. 9.80 lakh.

MG Comet Blackstorm Without BaaS!

While MG have not yet confirmed formally if they will sell the Comet without the BaaS or not, rest assured that they would sell you the car. As long as you are willing to walk away from the deal, they will sell you the car. The car market is at best lukewarm right now and they can’t afford to limit its sales through BaaS.

Buy With or Without BaaS?

We strongly advise you to stay away from BaaS unless you want to entangle yourself into two different financiers and pay separate EMIs — one of which may fluctuate based on your usage. Since the BaaS component essentially is a loan disguised as a battery rental, you still have to pay it off even if you don’t drive the car. Moreover, you may have to pay for a separate GPS tracking device to keep track of your usage.

Even the rate of interest for BaaS isn’t lucrative enough to warrant going through the hassle. They’re either worse than a typical loan or on par with whatever rate of interest you might get from the bank. You should forget about the BaaS thing unless you are getting the BaaS rate of interest that’s at least 1% less than the car loan you are getting from a bank.
