Toyota India Introduce Third Shift At Bidadi Plant To Meet Growing Demand | V3Cars

To meet the growing demand for their vehicles, Toyota have introduced a 3rd shift at the Bidadi manufacturing plant. The increased production is likely to reduce the waiting period of Toyota cars and SUVs sold in India.

Toyota Increase Production With A Third Shift

The third shift at the Bidadi plan will increase production by up to 30% and help meet customer deman for popular models like the Granza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross and Fortuner. The carmaker also revealed that the expansion in production will also result in additional employment of 25%, which will also include intake from Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI).

With the increased production, we expect the waiting periods of the Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Hycross and Fortuner to come down drastically. Recently, Toyota India stopped accepting bookings for the strong hybrid variants of the Hycross m. Furthermore, both the Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder continue to command a sizable waiting period.

Speaking more about TTTI, it is Toyota’s in-house skill education facility inside the Bidadi plant which focuses on skill development on advanced automotive technologies. The carmaker revealed that TTTI underwent a major expansion last year by increasing its academic capacity to 1,200 students. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) currently have 6,000 employees, including both production and non-production staff.
