Skoda Octavia Achieves 1 Lakh Sales Milestone — One Of The Longest Running Nameplate In India | V3Cars
The Skoda Octavia has crossed the 1,00,000 unit sales milestone in the Indian market. The Czech carmaker has sold 1,01,111 Octavia sedans and estates in the country ever since it was launched back in 2001. While the Octavia is one of the longest running nameplates in India, it has also become the best selling car in India via the CKD route.
Skoda India launched the Octavia back in 2001 as their first offering in our market. The successful launch of the Octavia was followed by the second-gen Octavia, called the Laura, and the Octavia Combi, which was the estate version of the Octavia sedan. Skoda extended their portfolio with the Octavia vRS in 2004 with lowered suspension and performance upgrades. The Octavia vRS was also the first passenger car in India to offer a turbocharged petrol engine.

Commenting on the landmark achieved by the ŠKODA OCTAVIA, Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director, ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “The OCTAVIA is synonymous with ŠKODA AUTO since our entry into India. It introduced Indian consumers to a value luxury package of design, technology, comfort, versatility and driving dynamics and created its own segment when launched in 2001. It has since become the largest selling CKD of all time in India, recently crossing the 1 lakh sales mark. A big thank you to our family of fans and customers whose continued love and support to the OCTAVIA for over two decades has made this accomplishment possible.”

Currently, the Octavia is the only executive sedan available in the Indian market. Honda discontinued the Civic sedan due to low sales whereas Hyundai are yet to launch the new-generation Elantra in the country. Skoda India offer the 4th-gen Octavia with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Skoda India will soon resurrect the vRS nameplate with the launch of the Octavia RS plug-in-hybrid in 2023. If you want to know more about the Octavia RS iV, click on the link below.
