Kia Seltos Completes 3 Years In India - Over 3 Lakh Units Sold | V3Cars

Kia Seltos completed 3 years in the Indian market recently. It went on sale on August 22, 2019 as the 1st product from Kia in India. Since then, it has sold over 3 lakh units in India. Even today, the Seltos is the highest selling product from Kia’s stable, which consists of 4 cars, including the Sonet, Carens and the Carnival.

Within 2 months of its launch, the Seltos became the highest seller in its segment. The Kia Seltos single-handedly allowed the South-Korean carmaker to enter the top 5 car manufacturers list in the country. Another major achievement of the Seltos is that it achieved the 1 lakh sales milestone in just 1 year of its launch. The SUV’s successful run has allowed Kia to retain their position among the top 5 carmakers in the country for 3 years running.

Kia claim that they have regularly updated the Seltos with new features over this period. In its latest avatar, the Seltos comes equipped with 6 airbags right from the base variant. This makes Seltos the 2nd mass-market car in India to get 6 airbags as standard after the Kia Carens. The Seltos was also the 1st car to bring the auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT), or iMT in Kia speak, in the segment. This transmission option is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.

Kia India recently crossed the 5-lakh sales milestone in the country, with Seltos contributing close to 60% of the overall sales. While 58% of the Seltos sales come from its top variants, the automatic transmission option of the vehicle contributes to around 25% of the sales. According to Kia, every 1 out of 10 Seltos buyers opted for the ACMT gearbox in 2022. In July 2022, Kia India achieved the milestone of crossing 1 lakh exports of the Seltos to more than 91 countries from its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh.
