In this July 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change for the 20 top-selling cars of July 2022. Based on the data, we’ll also share our observations and possible reasons for big improvement or massive decline in sales where applicable.

July 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars YoY Change

  • The top 11 best selling cars in July 2022 sold well over 10,000 units a month.
  • Half the models on the top 20 bestselling list in July 2022 are from Maruti Suzuki, whereas there were just 8 in June YoY comparison.
  • Ignoring the ludicrous gain figure of Celerio in July because it sold only 2 units in July 2021, the S-Presso is the biggest YoY gainer in the month of July, with 65% YoY.
  • The next best YoY performer in July 2022 after the S-Presso is Venue from Hyundai, with a growth of 46.61%, followed by Tata’s Nexon with 38% growth and Maruti's Dzire with 29.7% growth.
  • The Alto was the biggest loser, with a decline of 29.55%, followed by the Ertiga ( -27.84%), Brezza (-23.42%) and Kia Sonet (-6%).
  • Hyundai have 4 cars in June 2022 YoY Top 20 performers list, Kia have 2, Tata have 2, while Mahindra and Toyota have 1 car each.

July 2022 - 20 Top-Selling Cars MoM Change

  • The WagonR keeps its top spot, continuing its upward MoM rise trend in July as well, with a growth of 17.71%.
  • In terms of MoM change, the S-Presso is the top gainer, with an improvement of almost 1628%.
  • The second best performer in MoM improvement comes from the Maruti Brezza, which used to be known as Vitara Brezza till last month, posting a 120% better figure in July compared to the June performance.
  • Alto, Celerio and i20 are the top 3 losers, posting a decline of 34.26%, 21% and 13.2%, respectively.
  • Tata Nexon, Mahindra Bolero saw a negligible decline of 0.57% and 0.42%, respectively.
