Exclusive: Tata Nexon CNG Launching In Sep 2024 | V3Cars

From our source with knowledge about the 2024 Nexon CNG launch, we have learned that Tata will launch the car in September 2024. Launching a car ahead of the festivities is a routine thing we have seen with important car launches. Festive spending spree often boost cars’ sales figures while post festivities, we see a notable drop in fresh orders.

The September launch info also lines up well with the festive timelines. Given that the Shradh period starts from September 17 and stretches up to October 2, 2024, we can expect Tata to bring this car in the first half of September. Navratri starts in the first week of October and since then, we expect a heavier demand in vehicle purchases.

Therefore, the information from the source also aligns with the festivities and seems like a reasonable fit. Although, we can’t completely rely on the information as the source wasn’t able to produce a concrete proof to justify the claim. Keeping this latest scoop in mind, we can estimate the tentative launch timeline for the Nexon CNG:

  • Reveal + bookings open: First half of September 2024
  • Price Announcement: First half of September 2024
  • Delivery: Beginning of October 2024

The Punch CNG has about 19% less power and 10% less torque than the Punch petrol. When running on CNG, the Tiago and Tigor make about 17% less power and 16% less torque than petrol variants. Assuming a similar drop in performance, we can expect the Nexon CNG to make about 16 - 20% less power and about 15% less torque than the Nexon petrol.

To keep things simple, it’s likely that Tata may initially launch the Nexon CNG only in the more affordable variants with the 5-speed manual transmission. This will keep the Nexon CNG’s ex-showroom price in the range of Rs. 9.0 - 10.40 lakh, which is the Brezza’s territory. However, keeping things simple is not Tata’s thing. So, we shouldn’t yet rule out the possibility of 2 manual transmission options (5-speed as well as 6-speed) and maybe even the 6-speed AMT.
