Volkswagen Tiguan Discontinued Ahead Of Tiguan R-Line Launch On April 14 | V3Cars

Volkswagen have discontinued the standard Tiguan SUV from their India lineup. The standard Tiguan will be replaced by the sportier Tiguan R-Line, which comes equipped with a more powerful version of VW’s 2L turbo petrol engine.

VW Tiguan 2025 Discontinued

The VW Tiguan was first launched in December 2021 at a price of Rs. 32 lakh (ex-showroom). This generation of the Tiguan was locally assembled at Volkswagen’s Aurangabad facility. VW only offered a single, fully-loaded variant, called the Tiguan Elegance, and its last recorded price was Rs. 38.17 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of specifications, the Tiguan was offered with a 2L turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). It produced 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque. As for rivals, the Tiguan went up against the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and the Citroen C5 Aircross in India.

2025 Tiguan R-Line Incoming

Volkswagen India are set to replace the standard Tiguan with the top-of-the-line Tiguan R-Line variant on April 14. Unlike the standard SUV, the Tiguan R-Line will launch via the CBU (completely built unit) route and we expect it to cost around Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the 2025 Tiguan R-Line are currently open.

While the standard Tiguan produced 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque, the new Tiguan R-Line puts out 204PS while the torque output remains unchanged.

While the Tiguan R-Line retains the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and also offers the brand’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

When launched, the Tiguan R-Line will rival entry-level luxury SUVs such as Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Audi Q3.
