2023 Tata Nexon EV Revealed — 2 Battery Packs, New Features & V2L Charging | V3Cars
Tata Motors have revealed the Nexon EV in India ahead of its launch on September 14, 2023. The carmaker will open bookings for the new Nexon EV on September 9. Read on to know more about the 2023 Tata Nexon EV.
2023 Tata Nexon EV Exterior Details
The new Nexon EV boasts a unique design element that is not present in the ICE-powered Nexon — the connected LED light bar. Unlike the Nexon that uses a black applique to connect the LED DRLs, the Nexon EV offers a full-width connecting LED light bar, which also doubles up as a charge indicator. Another change is the redesigned lower bumper that boasts vertical fins.

Around the side, the Nexon EV offers the EV badge on the front doors and the Nexon EV badging is also seen on the tailgate. It is interesting to note that Tata Motors have ditched the blue inserts on the exterior for a gloss black finish. Apart from the aforementioned changes, the Nexon EV looks identical to the ICE-powered Nexon.
2023 Tata Nexon EV Interior And Features
It is the same story on the inside as well. The interior changes and features of the Nexon EV are similar to that of the Nexon, albeit with a few addons. The biggest difference is the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which apart from wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, also support an app suite that Tata like to call Arcade.EV. On the features front, the Nexon EV offers a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 6 airbags, paddle shifters, auto AC, emergency parking brake, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charger and 9-speaker JBL sound system.

2023 Tata Nexon EV Powertrain Details
The new Nexon EV retains the two battery pack options — Medium Range (MR) with a 30kWh battery and Long Range (LR) with a 40.5kWh battery pack. The medium range offers 129PS of power, 215Nm of torque and an ARAI-certified range of 325km. The Long Range offers 145PS of power, 215Nm of torque and 465km certified range. Both the battery pack options power a front mounted electric motor, which as per Tata Motors, is lighter by 20kg and more efficient. Tata Motors claim that while the claimed range of the new Nexon has increased by 5%, the real world range is up by 7%. In terms of charging, the Nexon EV can be charged from 10 - 80% in 56 minutes via a DC fast charger.
Another noteworthy addition to the Nexon EV is the vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to load (V2L) charging. If plugged to a compatible EV, the Nexon EV can charge another EV by up to 5kW, whereas the non-compatible EVs can be charged by 3.3kW.
2023 Tata Nexon EV Launch, Variants And Rivals
Tata Motors will announce the prices of the new Nexon EV on September 14, 2023. The new Nexon EV, like the regular Nexon, adopts the new variant nomenclature. Tata will offer the Nexon EV in 3 variants — Empowered, Fearless and Creative. The new Nexon EV will continue to rival other EVs like the Mahindra XUV400, Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV.
