Rumour: Skoda India To Relaunch Superb Soon | V3Cars
According to a recent media report, Skoda India will soon relaunch the current-gen Superb sedan with new features. The Skoda Superb is likely to go on sale in India again, albeit as a completely built unit (CBU) unlike the earlier model that was assembled at Skoda’s manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharashtra. Read on to know more about the upcoming Skoda Superb sedan.
Skoda Likely To Relaunch Current-Gen Superb Sedan
Skoda India pulled the plug on the Superb sedan ahead of the BS6 phase 2 emission norms that came into effect in April this year. Skoda have already teased the new-gen Superb and are set to launch the new Superb in various global markets in a few weeks. However, a new media report claims that Skoda plan to relaunch the current-gen Superb sedan as a CBU in the country soon.

If the Superb goes on sale as a CBU offering, its ex-showroom price could cross the Rs. 50 lakh price bracket. For reference, the last recorded price of the Superb before it was discontinued was Rs. 37.29 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Skoda are likely to cram a lot more features in the CBU Superb compared to the earlier model to match buyer expectations that come with such a high price tag.
As per the report, the new Superb sedan could offer features such as a 360-degree parking camera, park assist, adaptive dampers, and new alloy wheels over the previous locally assembled model. Additionally, the new Superb sedan is also likely to become the first Skoda model in India to offer advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) features like adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.

In terms of engine options, the Superb is likely to continue with the same 2.0L turbo petrol engine as before, albeit with necessary updates to make it compliant with BS6 phase-2 emission norms. It is likely to produce the same 190PS of power and 320Nm of torque as the earlier model. Transmission duties are likely to be handled via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will transmit power to the front wheels only.
Skoda Superb Relaunch Timeline
Rmours suggest a few Skoda dealerships are currently accepting bookings for the new Superb sedan. Skoda will bring the Superb in limited numbers since the new-gen model is just around the corner. Once launched, it will go head-to-head with the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
