Tata Nexon CNG Launch Soon – What To Expect | V3Cars

With petrol and diesel prices at an all-time high in the country, several car manufacturers have been rolling out CNG versions of their popular models to cater to price-conscious buyers. This year, we expect a slew of sub-compact CNG SUVs to make their way to showrooms all over the country. One among them is the Tata Nexon CNG, which has been spied testing several times and is expected to launch later this year.

At the launch of the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG, Tata Motors confirmed that they are actively developing CNG versions of the Nexon, Altroz and Punch. While the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG are powered by a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine, the Nexon CNG will be powered by the 1.2L turbo engine.

Currently, the Nexon’s 1.2L turbo petrol engine of the Nexon produces 120PS of power at 5500rpm and 170Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 4000rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual and AMT transmission. With the CNG powertrain, we expect a slight dip in the power and torque figures. In addition to that, Tata Motors are likely to offer the Nexon CNG with the 6-speed manual transmission to keep costs in check.

When launched, the Tata Nexon CNG will face the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, which will be powered by a 1.5L normal engine. The Nexon CNG will also rival the upcoming Kia Sonet CNG, which has been spied testing with a 1.0L turbo engine. This powertrain could also find its way under the bonnet of the Hyundai Venue. The Tata Nexon CNG is expected to be priced from Rs. 7.5 lakh to Rs 8.75 lakh.
