Skoda Teases Vision IN SUV; Will Be Called Kushaq | V3Cars
Skoda is all set to launch its Creta-rival in India by mid-2021. While the SUV’s launch is still a few months away, the carmaker has finally christened its upcoming SUV. Based on the Vision IN concept, the SUV will be called the Kushaq. Skoda says the name is derived from the Sanskrit word KUSHAK that implies King or Emperor.
Kushak will be Skoda’s first product to be based on the MQB A0 IN platform. From what we have seen in the spy shots, the SUV will look largely similar to the concept it is based on.
Skoda has teased the side profile of the SUV, however, the image doesn’t reveal much. Based on the concept, we can safely assume that it will get Skoda’s signature butterfly grille with a chrome surround flanked by two-part LED headlamps. The bumper will be chunky with a large central air dam. Coming to the side, it will look clean with a sharp shoulder line running across the length. It is expected to get 17-inch alloys. At the rear, it will get L-shaped tail lamps flanking the SKODA lettering on the tailgate, similar to what we have seen on the concept and other modern Skoda cars.
On the inside, the SUV will look similar to modern Skoda SUVs. Expect it to be loaded on the features front as well since it has to go up against likes of the Creta and Seltos. It is expected to get features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, auto AC with rear AC vents and wireless charging. For safety, expect up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill launch assist, electronic stability program, traction control and electronic parking brake.
Under the hood, the Kushaq is expected to get two petrol engines. The lower variants are expected to get Rapid’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol TSI engine making 110PS and 175Nm mated to either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed automatic. In the higher variants, Skoda might offer a 1.5-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine making 147PS and 250Nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG.
Prices of the Kushaq SUV are expected to range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
