Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun Secure 5 Star Rating In Global NCAP Crash Test | V3Cars
The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun are the first 2 SUVs to secure a 5 star crash rating in Global NCAP’s updated crash test. Both the Kushaq and Taigun scored 29.64 points in adult occupant safety and 42 points for child occupant safety. The Kushaq and Taigun are also the first SUVs to score 5 stars in both adult and child occupant safety.
Global NCAP recently announced their updated crash test measures and the Kushaq and Taigun have come out with flying colours, securing 5 stars. In the adult occupant safety, both SUVs offered good safety to driver and passenger’s head, neck and knees and scored 29.64 points out of 34. The bodyshell was rated stable and was found capable of withstanding further loads.

Furthermore, both SUVs also offered good protection to the head and pelvis in the side pole impact test. The electronic stability control (ESC) also met the standard fitment requirements and the performance was found acceptable. It is worth mentioning that both the Kushaq and Taigun offer ESC as standard across all variants, contributing to their 5 star rating.

The test car was equipped with safety features like front airbags, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, seatbelt reminders, pedestrian protection and electronic stability control. The top-spec variants of both the Kushaq and Taigun also offer 6 airbags and hill start assist.
The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun share a common assembly line and sit on the heavily-localised MQB-A0 IN platform. The same platform also underpins the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus sedans, which are yet to be crash tested. It is worth noting that the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which are arch rivals to the Kushaq and Taigun, scored 3 stars in Global NCAP crash tests along with an unstable bodyshell.
