Spied: Maruti Suzuki Baleno-Based SUV Coupe — To Debut At 2023 Auto Expo | V3Cars

The production-spec version of the Futuro-E concept is likely to share its underpinnings with the Baleno. While several rumours suggest that Maruti Suzuki will call it the Baleno Cross, we expect the carmaker to come up with a new name for the SUV coupe. After all, cars with ’Cross’ suffixes, such as the Polo Cross and Etios Cross, never struck a chord with Indian car buyers.

The spy shots of the Baleno-based SUV coupe reveal split LED headlamps and Maruti’s signature grille for its Nexa models. Like the upcoming Grand Vitara, we expect the new SUV coupe to feature 3-pot LED DRLs. The spy shots also reveal the sloping roofline of the upcoming SUV coupe.

We expect this new SUV coupe to be powered by Maruti’s 1.0L turbo petrol engine that first debuted in the Baleno RS. This engine will allow Maruti Suzuki to price the upcoming Baleno crossover attractively thanks to the lower tax impositions on engines with displacements under 1.2L.

Set to be showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo in January, Maruti Suzuki are likely to launch the new SUV coupe in February 2023. With the Maruti Suzuki and Toyota collaboration in place, it won’t be surprising to see Toyota’s version of the same SUV coupe soon after the launch of the Maruti.
