Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-Seater Spied – Likely To Launch Later This Year | V3Cars

The upcoming 3-row version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was spotted testing recenlty near the carmaker’s Kharkhoda manufacturing plant in Haryana. The latest spy shots confirm Maruti Suzuki are indeed working on a 3-row version of the Grand Vitara and could launch it later this year. Codenamed Y17, this extended Grand Vitara will expand Maruti’s SUV lineup and cater to families seeking more seating capacity.

Grand Vitara 7-Seater Design And Styling

Spy photos reveal the 7-seater Grand Vitara borrowing styling cues from the e Vitara that is set to go on sale in March 2025. Notable design elements include connected LED taillights, similar to the electric SUV, and repositioned headlamps lower on the bumper with distinct DRLs. The test mule also showcases a noticeably longer rear overhang, larger rear quarter glass, and newly designed 2-tone alloy wheels. Inside, the Grand Vitara 7-seater is expected to offer a large, free-standing infotainment screen.

Grand Vitara 7-Seater Platform And Powertrain

Built on the same Global C platform as the standard Grand Vitara, the 3-row variant is expected to utilise the same 1.5-litre normal petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-strong hybrid powertrains, likely with the same transmission options. However, the added weight of the 3rd row could slightly impact performance and fuel efficiency.

Launch And Rivals

The 3-row Grand Vitara is expected to be the first model produced at Maruti’s Kharkhoda plant, with a launch anticipated near the end of 2025. It will be positioned below the Maruti Invicto in the brand’s portfolio. In terms of competition, it will rival SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus.
