August 2022 Cars Sales Analysis - Hatchback YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this August 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all hatchbacks in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all hatchbacks for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.

August 2022 Cars Sales Analysis

Hatchbacks Segment August 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • Maruti Suzuki may not have a strong grip in the sedan segment, but they have the hatchback segment under their command
  • This is evident as Maruti Suzuki manufacture 4 of the top 5 best selling hatchbacks and 7 out of the top 10
  • The WagonR lost its top spot to the Baleno in August 
  • Since its the generation change in February, the Baleno’s sales figures have risen up to 17.7% in August 2022
  • As expected, given its falling numbers over the past few months, the Hyundai Santro has been discontinued
  • The Maruti Ignis was the best performing hatchback in August 2022 YoY comparison, with a 180% rise in dispatches
  • WagonR’s dispatches have doubled since August 2021, making it the second best gainers with a 91% rise in sales
  • The Toyota Glanza was he third top gainer with a 64.3% rise in August 2022 YoY comparison
  • Renault Kwid was the biggest loser, with  a 42.61% decline in sales. The Honda Jazz was the biggest loser, followed by the Tata Altroz

Hatchback Segment August 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • The Alto and Alto K10 twins top the top-gainer list,  with a 59% MoM growth
  • The Honda Jazz was the second best top gainer in MoM comparison, with a 31.38% growth
  • The Renault Kwid wasthird, with a  28% MoM growth in August 2022
  • Among notable top MoM losers were the Swift, S-Presso and WagonR, with their dispatches declining 36%, 31% and 18.6%, respectively
  • We are not considering the Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Santro in this analysis because they have been discontinued
