Furthermore, the new Verna could offer petrol and diesel engine options with a mild-hybrid setup to boost efficiency and contain tailpipe emissions. The 2023 Verna will continue to rival the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

Toyota Corolla Flex Fuel Hybrid

Toyota Corolla

Toyota recently showcased the Corolla flex fuel hybrid sedan and the Japanese carmaker are likely to bring it to the 2023 Auto Expo. The most notable feature of the Toyota Corolla flex fuel hybrid is that it can run on both petrol and ethanol and offer impressive fuel efficiency thanks to its strong hybrid powertrain. Its 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain offers a combined power and torque output of 102PS and 142Nm. The power and torque outputs from the electric motor stand at 72PS and 162Nm, respectively. The electric motor draws power from a 1.3kWh battery pack, similar to what we get in the Hyryder and Camry.

Toyota Mirai FCEV

Toyota Mirai

Last year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor signed an MoU with the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for the Mirai pilot project. Toyota will now showcase their hydrogen technology at the 2023 Auto Expo as well. The second-gen Toyota Mirai made its debut last year. The Toyota Mirai FCEV comes with 3 hydrogen tanks. Unlike electric cars, which take a couple of hours to charge, the Mirai can fill up all 3 hydrogen tanks in under 5 minutes, giving it a range of 650km. However, Toyota are not likely to launch the Mirai FCEV in India.

The Ioniq 6 shares its e-GMP platform and 77.4kWh battery pack with the Ioniq 5 and offers a claimed driving range of up to 614km on a single charge. The BYD E9 is also known as the BYD Han in certain markets and it is already on sale in the European market. The E9 from BYD comes with a sleek design with a drag coefficient of 0.233d. It is a tad under 5 metres long, which makes it longer than the Toyota Camry and BMW 5 Series. The BYD E9 electric sedan comes with an 85.4kWh battery pack that powers either the front axle or both front and rear. The all-wheel drive version of the E9 offers 517PS of power and 700Nm of torque. Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Dzire

The new-gen Dzire sedan is likely to come with a strong hybrid powertrain alongside the current normal petrol engine. The strong hybrid petrol engine in the new Dzire is likely to be a size smaller than that in the Grand Vitara SUV. A couple of rumours even suggest that its fuel efficiency could be close to 35kmpl. Following the conventional life cycle of a product, the Dzire should receive a generation change in early- or mid-2023. Hence, we can expect Maruti Suzuki to at least showcase the concept version of the new-gen Dzire at the auto show, given that the Auto Expo is making a comeback after a hiatus of 3 years.
