Maruti Nexa YTB (Baleno Cross)
Maruti Suzuki will showcase the Baleno-based YTB crossover at the 2023 Auto Expo. The test car was caught on test multiple times and it’s likely to go on sale in early 2023. It is likely to come with a Grand Vitara inspired front profile. The Maruti Suzuki YTB is likely to share its powertrain with the Baleno and it could also feature a 1.0L turbo petrol engine. The YTB is likely to be priced between Rs. 7 lakh to Rs. 11 lakh ex-showroom.
Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios-based SUV
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios-based crossover SUV was spotted in South Korea wearing heavy camouflage. However, the silhouette of the B1-segment SUV suggests it could be a size bigger than the Hyundai Casper. We expect Hyundai to showcase the Grand i10 Nios-based small SUV at the 2023 Auto Expo. It could either be in the form of a concept or a pre-production model. The upcoming small SUV from Hyundai will go up against the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite normal petrol and Renault Kiger normal petrol. We expect Hyundai India to launch the B1-segment SUV towards the end of 2023.
Kia Sonet Facelift
The Sonet went on sale in 2020, about a year after the Venue, which recently got its mid-life update. So, it’s natural to expect the Sonet to get its mid-life refresh in 2023. This makes it a viable candidate for making a presence at the 2023 Auto Expo. While it may offer a couple of cosmetic and functional updates, the biggest change could be the addition of the 1.5L turbo diesel engine with the auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT). The Sonet will continue to compete with other B2-segment SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite turbo and Renault Kiger turbo.

Toyota Taisor SUV
Toyota recently removed the Urban Cruiser from their India website and it looks like a rebadged Brezza is not coming in to replace the older Urban Cruiser. The new Taisor name trademarked by Toyota hints towards the arrival of the Glanza-based crossover that will share its underpinnings and powertrain with the Maruti Suzuki YTB. Toyota could showcase the pre-production version of the Taisor at the auto show while its launch could take place in early 2023.
Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios Facelift
The Hyundai Grand-i10 Nios was launched in India in 2019 with petrol and diesel engine options. Following the standard product lifecycle, Hyundai are likely to bring the Nios facelift to the market in early 2023. The Grand i10 Nios facelift is likely to continue with the same set of powertrain options as the current model. Hyundai could launch the Grand-i10 Nios facelift soon after the auto show with a marginal price hike over the current Grand i10 Nios. The updated model will continue to rival other hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago and Citroen C3.
Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Maruti Suzuki launched the current-gen Dzire back in 2017 and it later received a facelift in 2020. In the year 2023, the Dzire will complete 6 years and that’s when we expect Maruti Suzuki to bring the new-gen Dzire to the market. For the 2023 Dzire, we can expect a strong hybrid powertrain to become the biggest talking point. The strong hybrid powertrain could offer a claimed fuel efficiency of 35+kmpl. We expect the 2023 Dzire to go on sale by mid 2023 with an expected price of Rs. 6.50 lakh to Rs. 11.0 lakh (ex-showroom) if it also gets a strong hybrid option.
Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift
With the arrival of the next-gen Dzire, Maruti Suzuki won’t take long to bring the next-gen Swift as well. We expect the carmaker to showcase the next-gen Swift at the 2023 Auto Expo, in either pre-production or in the concept form. Like the case with the 2023 Dzire, we can expect the next-gen Swift to pack a strong hybrid powertrain. The strong hybrid powertrain could offer a claimed fuel efficiency of 35+kmpl. The Swift is a B1-segment hatchback and it’ll continue to rival cars like Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, Tiago NRG and Nexa Ignis. If it gets the strong hybrid engine, then it could cost between Rs. 6.0 lakh and Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG Air EV
MG Motor will reveal the Air EV small urban electric hatchback at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Air EV is already on sale in several international markets under the Wuling brand. In India, it will receive the MG logo and we expect it to feature a new name as well. The Air EV comes with 2 battery options – 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh. The standard battery variant offers 200km of range while the long-range version promises a 300km range per charge. Both variants get a 41PS electric motor driving the rear axle. In terms of prices, MG could charge anywhere between Rs. 8.0 lakh to 10.0 lakh for this cute 2-door city hauler. It’s affordable for sure, but not cheap by any means considering the size of the car.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R Flex Fuel
Recently, Maruti Suzuki showcased a prototype of its mass-market flex-fuel car based on the Wagon-R hatchback. The carmaker is likely to showcase the Wagon-R flex fuel prototype to the masses at the Auto Expo 2023. The Wagon R flex fuel is designed to run on any ethanol-petrol blend ranging from E20 (ethanol 20 percent) to E85 (ethanol 85 percent). To make the engine compatible with ethanol fuel, new fuel system technologies like heated fuel rail for cold start and ethanol percentage detection sensor were added. Furthermore, components like the engine management system and upgraded fuel injectors, among others, were also added. Maruti Suzuki are currently working on the prototype of the Wagon-R flex fuel and it will take at least a couple of years before hitting the market. However, the carmaker will soon bring their E20-compliant range to the market by March 2023.
