Maruti Suzuki Expected To Showcase Hustler EV At 2025 Auto Expo | V3Cars

Recently, Maruti Suzuki confirmed they will reveal the e Vitara electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2025. The brand is yet to reveal the full list of cars that are set to take the stage at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. However, Maruti Suzuki were spotted testing the Hustler micro SUV recently, and we believe the carmaker could showcase it with an all-electric powertrain at the auto show.

Maruti Suzuki Likely To Showcase Hustler EV At Auto Expo 2025

Maruti Suzuki Hustler EV Expected At Auto Expo 2025

In January 2023, Maruti Suzuki confirmed their plans to launch 6 new all-electric vehicles in India by the year 2030. During the announcement, Maruti Suzuki shared an image of the 6 upcoming EVs. While the image only featured silhouettes of the 6 EVs, one of them looked like the Hustler, a crossover SUV-style kei car sold in Japan.

First launched in 2014, the Hustler sold in Japan is offered with a tiny 658cc petrol engine. However, Suzuki could potentially turn the crossover SUV into an electric vehicle for sale in global markets. In terms of dimensions, the current-gen Hustler is 421mm longer, 20mm higher and 30mm narrower than the MG Comet EV. Unlike the MG Comet EV, however, the Hustler offers 4 doors.

While Maruti Suzuki have already confirmed the production-spec version of the eVX concept, the e Vitara, will be present at the Auto Expo 2025, we believe the carmaker could showcase the Hustler EV alongside it to gauge customer response before making a decision about its market introduction, possibly by 2026.

Suzuki Hustler EV — Expected Powertrain Specs And Rivals

While Suzuki haven’t revealed any specifications of the upcoming Hustler EV, we expect it to share its powertrain with the Wagon-R EV prototype that the brand have been testing since 2018. The carmaker planned to bring the Wagon-R EV to the market but later scrapped it due to its inability of justifying the premium over the petrol-powered Wagon-R. However, Suzuki could take what they have learnt from testing the Wagon-R EV and implement them in the Hustler EV. To that effect, we expect the Hustler EV to get a sub-30kWh battery pack and offer a driving range of close to 250km on a single charge.

It’s early to speak about the rivals of the Hustler EV without having its specifications and driving range. However, going by its dimensions and bodystyle, the Hustler EV could rival the MG Comet EV, Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3.
