Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Launch Timeline

The launch of the Jimny 5 door is likely to take place in April 2023 whereas the bookings have been commenced at the auto show itself. The Jimny 5 door will sit on a longer wheelbase over the Jimny 3 door and is likely to measure under 4 metres in length. Its arch rival, the Thar 5 door, is also set to make its India debut in the coming months but it will measure more than 4 metres in length. Hence, you can expect the prices of the new Jimny to fall in the same ballpark as the Thar 3 door and cheaper than the Thar 5 door. Meanwhile, Mahindra recently launched the Thar 2WD with a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh ex-showroom, thus making the Thar a lot more affordable.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Design

The Jimny 5 door will look identical to the Jimny 3 door, save for the extra set of doors and longer wheelbase. Up front, it will get a black grille with chrome surrounds. The grille will be flanked by a set of round projector headlights with LED DRLs. The Jimny 5 door will also offer round fog lights and a rugged front bumper with good approach angle. Around the side, the Jimny 5 door will offer 16-inch alloy wheels. The obvious change will be the inclusion of rear doors and a proper 2-row seating. Around the back, the Jimny 5 door will offer a tailgate-mounted alloy wheel and low-set tail lights.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Interior And Features

Like the exterior, we expect the Jimny 5 door to feature the same interior as the Jimny 3 door. It is likely to get an upright dashboard with a large touchscreen infotainment system. Furthermore, we can expect a couple of rugged design touches like grab handles on the A-pillars and round AC vents. Other features of the Jimny 5 door could include cruise control, steering-mounted controls, AC vents, front and rear locking differentials and a low range gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door Powertrain Details

The new Jimny 5 Door is likely to come with the same 1.5L normal petrol engine as the Jimny 3 door. The 1.5L normal petrol engine produces 102PS of power at 6000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4000rpm. It is likely to come with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
