Rank 1: e Vitara
- Maruti Suzuki focused all of their energy in promoting their upcoming e Vitara electric SUV.
- They revealed the production version of the e-Vitara at the Auto Expo.
- The car gets up to 61kWh battery pack option with more than 500km of range.
- Unlike the Creta Electric and ZS EV, eVitara gets an EV-specific platform.
- Among notable features of the eVitara are:
- 7 airbags as standard (including driver knee airbag)
- 40-20-40 split rear seat back with slide and recline function
- Full ADAS suite of features including adaptive cruise control
- Maruti Suzuki intend to have 1500+ service centres in 1000+ cities ready to support their eVitara customers with DC fast chargers and maintenance/breakdown-related services.
- More than the car itself, it’s this commitment to supporting their EV customers that makes their cars more attractive than others on the market.
- Bookings and launch timeline is currently unclear but we expect them to price it around Rs. 18.0 lakh to Rs. 23.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
- The price announcement should come sometime in the summers.

Rank 2: WagonR Flex Fuel
- Considering the government’s interest in creating a market for the bio-ethanol, there’s pressure and/or an urge to impress govt. officials.
- So, some carmakers are showcasing ethanol-based cars at the expo.
- The WagonR Flex Fuel is something like that and it can run on up to 85% concentration of ethanol in petrol. The current petrol contains 20% ethanol.
- Other than that, there’s nothing new in this car and it’s not worth checking out. Besides, with nearly a dozen e-Vitaras on the Maruti expo booth. So, you probably won’t even notice the WagonR flex fuel.
- The launch timeline for this car doesn’t exist right now. And if the total cost of ownership for ethanol doesn’t come significantly down, then the launch timeline will probably remain sometime in the future for the foreseeable future.
