Upcoming Cars In May 2025 - New Kia Carens, VW Golf GTI And More | V3Cars
Here’s a list of all upcoming cars in May 2025. Our list includes the likes of the 2025 Kia Carens, Volkswagen Golf GTI and MG Windsor EV with a bigger battery pack, among others.

1. 2025 Kia Carens - Reveal On May 8
Kia’s popular MPV, the Carens, is set to receive a major overhaul this month. Kia will reveal the new Carens 2025 on May 8 and we expect it to get a new name and be sold alongside the current model.
In terms of updates, we expect the new Carens MPV to offer ADAS, as indicated by sensor modules spied on test vehicles. This would align it with the Hyundai Alcazar and improve its competitive standing against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki XL6. Existing safety features such as a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, VSM, ESC, hill start assist, rear parking sensors and camera, downhill brake control and TPMS will be retained.

2. MG Windsor EV With Bigger Battery Pack
JSW MG Motor India will launch the Windsor EV with a Bigger 50.6kWh or 55kWh battery pack in May 2025. The new Windsor EV is also expected to offer ADAS to compete with its rivals such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400 and Tata Curvv EV.
Currently, the MG Windsor EV,̃ which is offered with a 38kWh battery pack, offers a claimed range of 331km per charge, putting it on par with the 35kWh variants of the Nexon EV (325km). However, the Windsor EV’s closest rivals – the Nexon EV, Curvv EV and the Creta EV – all offer variants equipped with a bigger battery pack, offering a range of 473km (Creta EV) to 585km (Curvv EV).
Post its launch, MG Motor stated they would evaluate the introduction of a bigger battery pack option for Windsor EV customers looking to drive further or curb range anxiety. To this effect, there were reports that MG could introduce a larger 50kWh/55kWh battery pack for the Windsor EV. In fact, the Wuling Cloud EV, which is essentially the Indonesia-spec Windsor EV, is offered with a bigger 50.6kWh battery pack that offers a range of 460km per charge.
3. Tata Altroz Facelift Or Harrier EV Launch On May 21
Tata Motors have set the date for their next big reveal – May 21. While the company is yet to disclose the specific model, we believe there are 2 strong contenders – the Altroz facelift and 2025 Harrier EV.
Last month, we spied the 2025 Altroz facelift undergoing tests. Based on those spy shots, we expect the Altroz facelift to receive a redesigned exterior with tweaked front and rear fascias, new alloy wheel designs, and an updated interior with a larger infotainment system. In terms of powertrain options, we do not expect any changes compared to the current model. If launched, the Altroz facelift will reignite its rivalry with the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20.

On the other hand, Tata Motors have already showcased near-production versions of the Tata Harrier EV doing stunts at their Chakan manufacturing plant. The all-electric Harrier boasts a striking design and promises a driving range of over 500km. Given that Tata have displayed the Harrier EV in near-production form at various events, we cannot rule out the brand from revealing it on May 21 either. Stay tuned to this page, as we will update this story as and when we get confirmation from Tata Motors regarding the upcoming launch.

4. Volkswagen Golf GTI Launch By The End Of May
Volkswagen have confirmed that the Golf GTI will launch in India towards the end of May 2025. As a performance-oriented hot hatch, the Golf GTI will be imported as a CBU in limited numbers. The upcoming Golf GTI will become the second GTI model to be sold in India after the 3-door Polo GTI in 2016.
In terms of specs, the Golf GTI is powered by a 2L turbo petrol engine producing 265PS of power and 370Nm of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. The same engine and transmission will also power the upcoming Skoda Octavia vRS. VW claim the Golf GTI can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 5.9 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.
