Upcoming Cars In August 2024 - Tata Curvv, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Citroen Basalt | V3Cars

Here’s a list of all upcoming cars in August 2024. Our list includes the likes of the 2024 Tata Curvv, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Citroen Basalt, Nissan X-Trail, and more.

Upcoming Cars In August 2024

1. Nissan X-Trail - August 1

Nissan India unveiled the new X-Trail 2024 in India on July 21, ahead of its official launch on August 1. Now in its fourth generation, the new X-Trail will be brought to India via the CBU route and we expect Nissan to price the D1-segment SUV around the Rs. 30.0 lakh to Rs. 35.0 lakh price range where it will rival other 7-seater SUVs and MPVs such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, the Jeep Meridian.

The India-spec X-Trail is powered by a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system that sends power to just the front wheels. The combined system output of the new X-Trail 2024 is rated at 163PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a CVT automatic transmission.

2. Citroen Basalt - August 2

Citroen India revealed the production-spec version of the 2024 Basalt coupe SUV on July 25, ahead of its global debut on August 2. While Citroen are yet to confirm the exact launch timeline for the Basalt coupe SUV, we expect it to take place ahead of the 2024 festive season, which begins at the end of October. Citroen are likely to wait for the price reveal of the Tata Curvv petrol before determining a price for the Basalt. Citroen India have traditionally priced their offerings lower than their direct rivals, and we expect the carmaker to take a similar approach with the Basalt as well.

Citroen Reveal Production-Spec Basalt Ahead Of Global Debut

Both the Curvv petrol and Basalt will launch with 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines. However, the Tata Curvv will also offer a 1.5L diesel engine as well as an all-electric powertrain. Citroen’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 110PS of power and 205Nm of torque and we expect the carmaker to offer the 2024 Basalt with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.

3. Upcoming MG EV - To Be Announced

MG Motor India teased their next offering for the Indian market on July 26, 2024. In the teaser,  MG are calling their upcoming electric car ‘The Intelligent CUV’. We are confident this upcoming EV is a rebadged and renamed version of the Wuling Cloud EV in India. MG Motor India are likely to reveal their upcoming EV in the first half of August and launch it before the festive season kicks off. 4. Tata Curvv EV, Curvv Petrol And Diesel – August 7

Tata Motors are set to unveil the Curvv EV alongside the Curvv petrol and diesel on August 7. We expect Tata Motors to announce the price of the Curvv EV on this date while the Curvv petrol and diesel are expected to go on sale at a later date.

Tata Motors are yet to announce the electric powertrain specifications of the Curvv EV. However, we expect it to offer a larger battery pack than the Nexon EV, which is shipped with a 40.5kWh battery pack. Since the Curvv EV is set to take over the Nexon EV’s spot as Tata’s flagship electric vehicle, we expect it to offer a range of around 500km over the Nexon EV long range variants’ 465km per charge.

As reported exclusively by V3Cars earlier this week, the new Curvv will feature 2 petrol engine options – the 1.2L turbo petrol from the Nexon and a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine with direct injection that  produces 125PS of power and 225Nm of torque. The turbo petrol engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and 7-speed DCT automatic transmission options.

The Curvv diesel is expected to share the same powertrain as the Nexon diesel, which produces 116Nm of power and 260Nm of torque. This engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. 5. Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet And GLC 43 4Matic Coupe - August 8

Mercedes-Benz is set to bolster its high-end vehicle offerings in India with the introduction of 2 exclusive models in August. The first, the CLE Cabriolet, is a 4-seater convertible, while the second, the GLC 43 AMG, is a performance-oriented SUV making a return after a hiatus.

The CLE Cabriolet offers a blend of luxury and technology, featuring dual digital displays and a lavish cabin adorned with leather, chrome, and premium plastics. A standout feature is its soft top, capable of retracting in just 20 seconds at speeds up to 60kmph. Under the bonnet lies a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine producing 375PS and 500Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The GLC 43 AMG marks the return of Mercedes' most potent GLC model to India. The coupe-style SUV retains the AMG formula of a powerful engine, luxurious interior, and athletic exterior. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine generating 421PS and 500Nm of torque, the GLC 43 AMG delivers impressive performance. The AMG-tuned 9-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system enhance driving dynamics.

We expect the 2024 CLE Cabriolet to cost around Rs. 1.0 crore and the GLC 43 AMG at around Rs. 80.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

6. Mahindra Thar Roxx (5 Door) - August 15

Mahindra revealed the Thar Roxx name on July 22 and are set to launch the 5-door iteration of the Thar on August 15. Meanwhile, Mahindra have released several teasers for the Thar Roxx, highlighting its exterior design, cabin and features on offer. You can learn more about them by clicking the links below.

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 Door to retain the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 Door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 Door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains.

We expect Mahindra to price the Thar Roxx 2024 between Rs. 13.00 lakh and Rs. 19.80 lakh. Check out how we arrived at these expected prices by clicking the link below.
