Toyota Launched 64th T-TEP Institute in Uttar Pradesh, Bridging Skill Gaps in India's Auto Industry (Press Release) | V3Cars
Toyota launched its 64th T-TEP institute at Government Industrial Training Institute in Varanasi. The Toyota Technical Education Program aims to enhance students' skills, especially from rural areas, boosting employability. The year-long program includes On-the-Job Training (OJT) and specialized training for lead trainers.
Over 12,000 students from 64 institutes across 26 states have been trained, with more than 70% employed in the auto industry. TKM, committed to Skill India Mission, supports students through a Scholarship Program for Technical Education And Recognition (STAR). The initiative, with an investment of Rs 1.5 million, focuses on infrastructure, e-learning, practice kits, and faculty training, contributing to the automotive industry's talent pool.

Here’s what Toyota have to say about the Inauguration of 64th T-TEP Institute:
Toyota Kirloskar Motor [TKM] today announced the launch of the 64th T-TEP institute at Government Industrial Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the skill set of students especially from rural areas, thereby enhancing their employability through the company’s unique training initiative namely Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP).
The program was launched by Mr. Arun Kumar Yadav, Principal, Government Industrial Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi, Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Mr V. Wiseline Sigamani, General Manager, Strategic Business Unit, TKM, and Mr. Rahul Goenka, Dealer Principal, Rajendra Toyota.
At TKM, we believe that our role in India goes beyond manufacturing and promoting environment-friendly cars. We are committed to create highly skilled and motivated individuals. For over a decade, Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) have been spearheading the skilling efforts for students from rural, economically challenged backgrounds, towards creation of world class skilled technicians, thus making a difference to the surrounding communities, and contributing to ‘Skill India’ mission. The company’s efforts were acknowledged when one of its skill champions from TTTI, Mr. Akhilesh Narasimhamurthy, a Mechatronics Bronze Medal Winner at the World Skill Contest 2022, had the opportunity to interact with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi.
T-TEP is a year-long program inclusive of On-the-Job Training (OJT), designed specifically for final-year ITI/Diploma students as a part of their curriculum. Key features of this program are specialized training for T-TEP's lead trainers of the Institute by Toyota, On-the-Job training (OJT) at Toyota dealership for practical skills towards better employability, and a curriculum designed to enhance knowledge of advanced technology to meet the Indian Auto industry requirements. Through T-TEP, thus far, TKM is associated with 64 ITI/Diploma institutes across 26 states. So far, over 12,000 students have been trained and more than 70% of the students are working in various automobile companies and their respective dealerships across the country.
Talking about this partnership, Mr Arun Kumar Yadav, Principal, Government Industrial Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi said:
“With growing technology advancements in the auto industry and unprecedented growth in motorization, and customers expectation for best-in-class services, there is a need for highly skilled technicians, making it important for students at technical training centres to have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on experience. With this collaboration, students at Government Industrial Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi will get an opportunity to understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advance technologies, thereby benefitting the students, the Indian auto industry, and contributing to Skill India Mission.”

“Since its inception in 2006, T-TEP has become a benchmark in providing advanced industry-oriented courses to develop talented youths and equip them with relevant skills and knowledge of latest automotive technologies meeting the needs of the rapidly growing Indian Auto industry. To further support needy students to pursue their studies, we announced Scholarship program for Technical education And Recognition (STAR) under T-TEP. This program is a distinct initiative, aimed to empower deserving students from financially challenging backgrounds to enhance their skills and livelihood opportunities. In addition, the collaboration with Government Industrial Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level with a special focus on rural areas.”
Talking about this initiative, Mr. Rahul Goenka, Dealer Principal, Rajendra Toyota said:
“As a part of this course, students will be exposed to the latest curriculum covering automobile fundamentals, Toyota values and basic soft skills. Rajendra Toyota is committed to supporting these students by providing on-job training and facilitating their skill development. Government Technical Training Institute, Karaundi, Varanasi adoption of T-TEP syllabus which will enable the students to further enhance their skills and make them employable in the auto industry."
The company along with its dealer partner have invested over Rs 1.5 million in infrastructure, e-learning contents, engines, transmissions, practice kits and trained the institute’s faculty through its unique Train-The-Trainer approach. In addition, the company had announced the Scholarship Program for Technical Education And Recognition [STAR] under T-TEP. The main aim of the STAR program is to empower and provide opportunities to deserving students from challenging economic backgrounds to pursue their higher studies in technical institutes (ITIs/Polytechnics). *Scholarships up to Rs 51,000 per year will be offered to eligible students from financial challenging backgrounds thereby providing opportunities to deserving students, covering hostel fees, educational expenses, and family support. This unique pilot program will benefit students, across 11 states, such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. TKM remains committed to enhancing and expanding T-TEP initiative to rural areas and meet the requirements of the automotive industry, promoting skill development, and providing opportunities for talented students, to excel in the automotive sector.
