Tata Punch And Altroz CNG Won’t Offer Cruise Control — New Features Added | V3Cars

Tata Motors took the wraps off the new Punch CNG and Altroz CNG at the 2023 Auto Expo. While these share the same CNG powertrain as the Tiago and Tigor CNG, they incorporate Tata’s twin CNG cylinder technology while also offering a couple of new features. However, both models will lack a crucial feature — cruise control — that is offered in their petrol variants.

Tata Punch CNG And Altroz CNG Lacks Cruise Control

The petrol variants of Tata Punch and Altroz offer cruise control in their top variants. However, the CNG models showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo didn’t have cruise control despite having all the other features. The Altroz CNG offers features such as LED DRLs, alloy wheels, keyless entry with push-button start/stop and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The Altroz CNG even offers an electric sunroof, which is currently missing in the Altroz petrol.

Similarly, the Punch CNG also packs features like LED DRLs, projector headlights, alloy wheels, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, semi-digital instrument cluster and an electric sunroof. While the Tiago and Tigor do not offer cruise control in any of their variants, we do not expect Altroz and Punch CNG to offer cruise control, even in the top spec variants. It is worth noting that the arch rivals of the Altroz CNG — the Baleno CNG and Glanza CNG — also do not offer cruise control in any of their CNG variants.

The Altroz CNG and Punch CNG will come with a 1.2L petrol-CNG powertrain that currently does duty on the Tiago, NRG and Tigor CNG. In the Altroz CNG and Punch CNG, this engine will produce 75PS of power and 97Nm of torque, which is 2PS and 2Nm more than the Tiago CNG. The Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG produces 73PS of power and 95Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. We do not expect Tata Motors to offer an automatic transmission with the Altroz CNG and Punch CNG. Tata Motors could announce the prices of the new CNG models based on the Altroz and Punch in the first half of 2023.
