Thar Roxx Panoramic Sunroof Confirmed

The latest video of the Thar Roxx, released ahead of its August 15 launch, reveals the SUV finished in black exterior colour. It reveals features such as LED projector headlamps with circular LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, new grille, faux skid plate, and ‘Thar Roxx’ badging on the front fenders. It also shows the Thar Roxx’s features like new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, front camera, rear door handles mounted on the C-pillar, and the LED tail lamps with a C-shaped lighting signature.

However, what is even more interesting than the teaser video is the teaser image released by Mahindra a few moments later. It shows a top-down shot of the Thar Roxx, confirming 2 features that were spied earlier this year – a panoramic sunroof and a larger touchscreen infotainment system.

2024 Mahindra Thar Roxx Interiors And Features

Mahindra are yet to unveil the Thar Roxx’s interior. However, the latest image not only reveals the panoramic sunroof and 10.25-inch infotainment system, but also the Thar Roxx’s white leatherette seat upholstery. In comparison, the Thar 3 Door offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen and no sunroof. 

Based on previous spy shots, we can confirm the Thar Roxx’s second row will feature a flat bench seat with ample underthigh support and legroom for rear passengers. The rear doors also boast a large bottle holder, a silver ‘Thar’ applique, and a substantial quarter glass section.

The Thar Roxx will also offer height-adjustable seatbelts for both front occupants, a multi-function steering wheel, and sturdy grab rails for all doors.

The upcoming Thar Roxx will also sport a revamped dashboard highlighted by a larger touchscreen infotainment system. While the Thar 3 Door comes with a 7.0-inch screen, the Thar Roxx is expected to feature a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen unit. This system is expected to offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with displaying various off-road data. The rest of the dashboard mirrors the Thar 3 Door’s design, but the steering wheel appears to be borrowed from the XUV700.

Rear passengers will benefit from floor-mounted AC vents positioned between the front seats. These additional vents should efficiently cool the Thar Roxx's larger cabin. The rear window, though relatively narrow, includes a large quarter glass to enhance visibility.

2024 Mahindra Thar Roxx Expected Powertrain Details

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 Door to retain the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 Door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 Door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains. 

In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to offer the Thar 5 Door diesel with the higher power output while the Thar 5 Door petrol is expected to produce 200PS of power from its 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Both engines are likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-ped torque converter automatic transmission options.
