2024 Thar 5 Door’s LED Projector Headlamps And 360-Degree Camera Spied

As seen in previous spy shots, the 2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door will feature LED projector headlamps with C-shaped LED DRLs built into them. In comparison, Mahindra offer the Thar 3 Door with a halogen headlamp only and it is common to find many owners swapping them out for a pair of aftermarket LED headlamps.

The other obvious change over the Thar 3 Door is the front grille. Unlike the Thar 3 Door, which gets 7 vertical slats, the Thar 5 Door boasts a new grille design featuring six double-stacked vertical slots. Other design highlights at the front include a silver skid plate, LED turn indicators, bonnet release clamps, fog lamps, etc.

The second leaked image of the Thar 5 Door gives us a partial glimpse of the SUV’s side profile. It reveals a camera placed under the ORVM cover, suggesting the Thar 5 Door will offer a 360-degree surround view camera system for easy manoeuvring through tight spaces and parking lots. Another interesting detail worth noting is the rear door handle, which is mounted higher up the door frame, similar to the door handles on cars such as the Chevrolet Beat and previous-gen Swift.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Expected Powertrain Details 

In terms of powertrains, we expect the new Thar 5 Door to retain the same 2.2L turbo diesel and the 2.0L turbo petrol engine options as the Thar 3 Door. However, both engines could offer more power and torque than the Thar 3 Door to overcome the extra weight. Both engine options are likely to come with manual and automatic transmission options along with 2WD and 4WD drivetrains.

In the Scorpio N, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine comes in 2 states of tune — 130PS and 175PS. We expect Mahindra to offer the Thar 5 Door diesel with the higher power output while the Thar 5 Door petrol is expected to produce 200PS of power from its 2.0L turbo petrol engine. Both engines are likely to be offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-ped torque converter automatic transmission options.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Expected Launch Details

Considering Mahindra’s penchant for revealing or announcing major products on national holidays like Independence Day or Republic Day, we expect the carmaker to launch the production-spec Mahindra Thar 5 Door on August 15, 2024 The new Thar 5 door will not only compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny but also the new Force Gurkha 5 door.
