Our sources suggest Hyundai are preparing to launch a new variant of the i20 soon. According to them, Hyundai are set to introduce a new Sportz (O) variant of the i20, which will sit between the Sportz and Asta variant of the B2-segment hatchback. Here’s what we know so far.

Hyundai i20 To Gain New Sportz (O) Variant

The new i20 Sportz (O) variant is set to offer the following features:

Electric sunroof
Wireless charger
Leatherette cushioned door armrest

The above features are currently available in the Asta and Asta (O) variants of the i20. Hyundai are now planning to offer these features at a lower price point in the form of a new Sportz (O) variant.

New Hyundai Sportz (O) Variant Launch Timeline

We expect the Sportz (O) to be added to Hyundai's website once the price revision comes into effect. According to our source, they are currently clearing up the inventory at old prices and the new prices are likely to come into effect sometime in the second week of January 2024. In December 2023, Hyundai had promised to increase the prices of their cars from January.

Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) Expected Price

With the January 2024 price hike, the Sportz manual could cost Rs. 8.38 lakh while the automatic is likely to cost Rs. 9.43 lakh. The higher Asta variant with manual transmission will cost Rs. 9.34 lakh. We expect Hyundai to price the Sportz (O) manual around Rs. 8.80 lakh while the automatic could cost Rs. 9.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

With this pricing, it’ll slot nicely between the Sportz and Asta variants. Moreover, it’ll even bring an i20 variant with sunroof + automatic under Rs. 10.0 lakh (ex-sh). There’s still room for a dual-tone variant for another Rs. 15,000 and it could still cost under Rs. 10.0 lakh (barely).

Hyundai i20 January 2024 Discounts And Offers

Currently, Hyundai are offering several discounts on both the pre-facelift (MY2023) and i20 facelift (MY2023 and MY2024). The pre-facelift Hyundai i20 petrol-automatic is available with a discount of up to Rs. 60,000 while the petrol-manual Sportz variant gets a discount of Rs. 35,000. Other variants of the MY2023 i20 get a discount of Rs. 20,000.
