2022 Jeep Meridian Unveiled — Launch In June | V3Cars
Jeep India have finally taken the wraps off the 2022 Meridian. Jeep will offer the Meridian with the 2.0L turbo-diesel engine with 2WD manual, 2WD AT and 4WD AT. Jeep India will open bookings in May, while the launch will take place in June 2022.
The Jeep Meridian will get a distinctive design over the Compass on which it is based. The front end of the Meridian gets signature Jeep elements, such as the sleek 7-slat grille. However, on the Meridian, this grille is thinner and gets a honeycomb mesh and chrome garnishing to set it apart from the Compass. The grille is flanked by LED headlights with chrome surrounds — carrying inspiration from the Jeep Wagoneer. There’s generous use of chrome on the lower bumper as well, with a honeycomb mesh for the radiator inlets. The Meridian also gets an electric tailgate with a 3-step height adjustment.
The 2022 Jeep Meridian will offer these notable features;
- A 10.1-inch standard touchscreen infotainment display
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Wireless phone charger
- 9-speaker Alpine sound
- Front ventilated seats
- Power adjustable driver seat with memory
- Power adjustable passenger seat
- Dual-zone climate control
- 360-degree parking camera
- E-parking brake
- Panoramic sunroof
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Digital instrument cluster
The 2022 Jeep Meridian will offer seating for 7 as standard. Both the 2nd and 3rd-row seats can be reclined whereas the 2nd-row seat also offers tumble function. the Meridian gets 80-degree travel for the rear doors to help better ingress/egress for rear passengers. The Meridian gets brown upholstery and dashboard inserts, while other upholstery options could be offered at a later date based on market feedback.
Jeep says the Meridian boasts a localisation percentage of 82%. Like the Compass, the Meridian gets frequency selective dampers (FSD) with independent suspension at all four corners.
As we stated earlier, the 2022 Meridian will come with a sole 2.0L turbo diesel engine. It produces 170PS of power at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1500rpm-4500rpm. While the 2.0L diesel automatic is only available with 4WD in the Compass, the Meridian also gets the option of the 9-speed automatic gearbox with front-wheel-drive. The Meridian will also get 2WD manual and 4WD automatic variants. However, the Meridian gets a new clutch to offer better efficiency than the Compass.
