2021 BMW X3 Facelift Leaked Ahead Of Launch | V3Cars

BMW debuted the third-gen X3 back in 2017 and launched it in India in 2018. The carmaker is now gearing up to introduce a mid-life update to the 5-seater SUV as images of the BMW SUV have leaked ahead of its official debut.

2021 BMW X3 Facelift

The X3 facelift gets a new front fascia with a bigger front grille flanked by new LED headlamps which are now slimmer and wider than before. The front bumper is also redesigned featuring faux air vents and a smaller central air dam. From the images, it seems like the bonnet has also been retouched as the two character lines look more prominent than before.

At the back, while the shape of the tail lamps looks largely unchanged, they look sharper thanks to the new 3D detailing. The rear bumper is also redesigned with faux vertical air vents, a faux rear diffuser and bulkier housing for the exhaust tips. The side profile of the X3 remains unchanged save for a new set of alloy wheels.

The leaked images do not reveal anything about the interior of the updated SUV but expect it to get an updated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech. The current X3 comes with a smaller 10.25-inch infotainment screen.

Under the hood, the X3 facelift is likely to get the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the current model but with an additional 48V mild hybrid system. The petrol engine on offer is a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit making 252PS and 350Nm while the diesel engine on offer is a 2.0-litre unit generating 190PS and 400Nm. Both the engines offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission paired to BMW’s xDrive 4WD system.

The 2021 BMW X3 facelift is likely to make its global debut in the coming few weeks. So, expect it to go on sale in India by mid-2022. It will renew its rivalry against the likes of the Mercedes Benz GLC, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX 300h, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-Pace and Audi Q5. The X3 facelift will be priced at a premium over the current model which retails from Rs 57.50 lakh to Rs 63.70 lakh (ex-showroom India). BMW also offers a sportier X3 M in India which is priced at Rs 99.90 lakh.
