Auto Expo 2025: Tata Avinya X Concept Showcased With Updated Design | V3Cars

At the 2025 Mobility Expo, Tata Motors showcased the updated Avinya X concept. This is the 2nd time Tata Motors are showcasing the Avinya at the Auto Expo. Back in 2023, when Tata Motors presented the Avinya concept for public display, it had a very MPV-ish vibe. But, this time around, the car’s lines are flowing to form a luxurious electric SUV with a strong focus on rear-seat occupants.

Mobility Expo 2025: Updated Tata Avinya X Concept Showcased

With the Kia Carnival and MG M9, we have noticed that carmakers are starting to offer cars, which pamper the chauffeur-driven. We expect the Avinya to do a bit of that when it goes on sale sometime later in this decade. However, unlike the M9, the Avinya X is not ready to lose that SUV vibe and wants to retain the proportions to also attract the buyers who prefer driving the car themselves.

In terms of technology, we know since the Avinya’s first unveil back in 2022, that the Avinya will be the first of Tata’s cars to use the Gen3 EV platform. The Gen1 EV platform in Tata’s lingo is where they turn a petrol/diesel car into an EV. So, all of the exterior and interior panels and most of the chassis are the same. Some examples are:

  • Nexon and Nexon EV
  • Tiago and Tiago EV
  • Tigor and Tigor EV

The 2nd Gen EV platforms are the ones where the exterior and interior panels are shared between the petrol and electric cars but the main platform is unique for electric and engine-powered versions of the car. Here are some examples of Tata’s Gen 2 EV cars:

  • Punch and Punch EV
  • Curvv and Curvv EV
  • Harrier and Harrier EV
  • Sierra and Sierra EV

The 3rd gen takes things to the next level by making panels and platforms exclusively for an electric vehicle. This means that there won’t be a version of the Avinya car, which will run on petrol/diesel fuel. In fact, the Avinya name itself won’t go to any car in Tata’s portfolio with an engine. In terms of examples of Gen 3 EV cars from Tata Motors, the Avinya is the only one to highlight as they are still in a fairly distant future.
