Auto Expo 2025: Isuzu D-Max EV Electric Pickup Concept Showcased | V3Cars

At the Mobility Expo 2025, Isuzu showcased their electric pickup truck D-Max BEV concept. The prototype was first revealed early in 2024. According to Isuzu officials, the electric pickup is primarily developed keeping European markets in mind. They would be open to expanding to other markets such as Australia, Thailand or other countries with good demand and mature EV infrastructure.

That last bit of information rules out India as their potential market. We are just not into pickups while the electric car market has only recently begun picking up speed. So, an intersection of the two expectations makes the car very unlikely to succeed in the tough Indian market.

In terms of design, it appears to carry the same rugged and abuse-friendly body-on-frame construction. Although, that added bit of weight from the ladder frame chassis will certainly eat into the car’s efficiency, which is usually the first thing on an Indian EV buyer’s mind. Not to mention, it has a heavy load to carry in the back.

According to Isuzu, the D-Max BEV concept is developed keeping in mind the needs of a lifestyle buyer as well as the commercial markets. Their current D-Max lineup also supports the V-Cross as well as commercial versions of the D-Max such as the standard and S-Cab versions.

Isuzu D-Max EV Concept (Electric Pickup) Specifications

Just like the current range of D-Max pickups, the electric version will also primarily have a rear-wheel drivetrain but it will be compatible with 4WD as well using dual-motor e-axle setup. In the 4WD configuration, the D-Max EV will make almost 177PS of maximum power and 325Nm of peak torque. The front motor alone will generate 54PS of power and 108Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the rear motor will be able to churn out 122PS of power and 217Nm of torque.

In this 4WD configuration, the DMax BEV will be capable of hauling a payload of up to 1,000kg or towing 3,500kg.
