Check out the specs, design, features and other details of the Urban BEV Concept below. But first allow us to explain why the Urban BEV Concept from Toyota is not really a concept SUV.
Why The Toyota Urban BEV Concept Is Not Really A Concept
While Toyota are calling their mass-market electric SUV the Urban BEV Concept, the SUV showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 is not really a concept. If you recall, Toyota revealed the production-spec Urban Cruiser for European markets in December 2024. The electric SUV showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 looks identical to the Urban Cruiser EV that was unveiled late last year. However, Toyota have given the windows and windshields a dark tint so as not to give out too many details about its interior and features.
That said, we expect the India-spec Urban Cruiser EV to get the same interior layout and features as the new e Vitara SUV. Check out the top features of the 2025 Urban Cruiser EV below.
2025 Toyota Urban BEV Concept Exterior Design And Dimensions
In terms of design, the Toyota Urban BEV Concept gets a different front end when compared to the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara it is based on. The Toyota electric SUV gets C-shaped headlamp casing that houses LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs. It also features a faux gloss black grille and vertical air vents.
Around the side, the Urban BEV Concept features blacked-out A- and B-pillars, while the C-pillar houses the rear door handles. The rear haunches are quite pronounced and the lower black cladding gives the Urban BEV Concept a rugged look. Like the e Vitara, the Urban BEV Concept gets 18-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts.
At the rear, the Urban BEV Concept gets connected LED tail lights, a roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, and a rear fog lamp as well. Check out the dimensions of the Toyota Urban BEV Concept in the table below:

With the dimensions mentioned above, it is clear that Toyota are aiming at C-segment electric SUVs with the Urban BEV Concept. When launched, the Urban Cruiser will not only rival the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara but also take on the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and the Hyundai Creta EV.
2025 Toyota Urban BEV Concept Expected Features
Like the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the Toyota Urban EV Concept gets features such as:
- ADAS (Level-2)
- 7 airbags
- All disc brakes
- Ventilated front seats
- 10-way powered driver’s seat
- 40:20:40 split rear seats
- Sliding and reclining rear seats
- Leatherette upholstery
- Dual 12.3-inch screens
- Panoramic sunroof
- 7-speaker sound system from Harman
- Rotary drive selector
- Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
Expect Toyota to give the production-spec Urban Cruiser EV an all-black interior colour scheme instead of the dual-tone finish in the new e Vitara. You can now check out the new e Vitara 2025 in more detail by clicking the link below.

2025 Toyota Urban BEV Concept Platform And Powertrain
Like the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is built on an all-new skateboard platform called the Heartect-e. The new platform incorporates a lightweight structure and helps offer a spacious interior due to short overhangs. This platform offers high-voltage protection and is designed to maximise battery capacity.
Speaking of batteries, Toyota offer the Urban Cruiser with 2 battery packs – 49kWh and 61kWh – in global markets. The smaller battery pack only comes with front-wheel-drive, while the larger battery pack can be had with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive.
