Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door
Maruti Suzuki will reveal the Jimny 5-Door at the 2023 Auto Expo and it will be one of the showstoppers at their pavilion. The most notable feature of the Jimny is the combination of its cute looks and off-road capabilities. The Jimny 3-door format has several fans all over the world thanks to its impressive powertrain and extreme off-road capabilities. We expect the 5-door version to retain the same characteristics, albeit with an added dose of everyday practicality.
The Jimny has only 2 main rivals in India — the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. While both SUVs are set to receive 5-door versions soon, none of them offer a fuel-efficient petrol engine. Hence, the Jimny’s 1.5L normal petrol engine with mild hybrid technology is likely to make it popular among petrol SUV buyers. The Jinny 5-door is likely to cost between Rs. 12.50 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh when it goes on sale in India.

Kia Sonet Facelift
Kia’s 2 main rivals - Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki - launched the Venue facelift and 2nd get Brezza, respectively, in 2022. The Kia Sonet, which went on sale in 2020, is set to receive a facelift soon, and we expect Kia to showcase it at the 2023 Auto Expo. Apart from a few cosmetic changes, we expect Kia to give the Sonet 1.5L turbo diesel the choice of an auto clutch manual transmission (ACMT) for diesel SUV buyers who prefer a 2-pedal setup. The Sonet facelift will continue to compete with other B2-segment SUVs, such as the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite turbo and Renault Kiger turbo.
Tata Altroz EV
Tata Motors showcased the Altroz EV at the 2020 Auto Expo in concept form. For the 2023 edition of the auto show, we expect the Indian carmaker to showcase the production version of the Altroz EV. The Altroz EV will be the first all-electric premium hatchback in the country. It is likely to come with a 28kWh battery pack and a range of 320km. In terms of pricing, it is likely to cost between Rs. 12.27 lakh and Rs. 14.40 lakh. The Altroz EV has no direct rivals from other carmakers. Tata’s own Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV are the only alternatives for a potential Altroz EV buyer.
Tata Punch EV
The Tata Punch EV is likely to be the newest electric offering from the Indian carmaker. We expect Tata Motors to showcase the Punch EV in production form at the Auto Expo 2023 while its launch could take place in mid-2023. The Punch shares its platform with the Altroz and it falls under Tata’s Gen-2 electric vehicle model lineup. We expect it to get a 28kWh battery pack and a range of over 300km per charge. In terms of pricing, it could cost between Rs. 12.0 lakh and Rs. 15.0 lakh (ex-showroom).
Next-Gen Hyundai Verna
The next-gen Hyundai Verna was caught on test multiple times and it’s likely to make its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new Verna from Hyundai gets a major design overhaul, with key elements inspired by the new Tucson. It is also likely to offer new features, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Furthermore, the new Verna could offer petrol and diesel engine options with a mild-hybrid setup to boost efficiency and contain tailpipe emissions. The 2023 Verna will continue to rival the the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.

Hyundai Creta Facelift
Hyundai are likely to showcase the Creta facelift at the 2023 Auto Expo. Hyundai already offer the Creta facelift in Thailand and Indonesia and the same is likely to go on sale in India in mid-2023. The updated Creta facelift comes with a Tucson-inspired front end with a large trapezoidal grille with integrated LED DRLs. A few notable features of the Creta facelift are a digital instrument cluster, 360-degree parking camera, adaptive cruise control and ADAS. The Creta facelift will rival the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
MG Astor Facelift
MG Motor India are likely to take the wraps off the MG Astor facelift at the 2023 Auto Expo. It is worth mentioning that MG already offer the Astor facelift in Thailand, albeit with a different name. For India, we expect MG to continue with the same set of engine options as the current model. However, we could also expect a strong hybrid powertrain to take on the strong hybrid variants of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. We expect MG to launch the Astor facelift towards the second half of 2023. Before the Astor, MG are expected to launch the Hector facelift in early 2023.
