Check out pros and cons about the Tata Tigor that are worth highlighting for a potential buyer. Here are some of the highlights of the benefits of buying the Tata Tigor. We'll also list out the Tigor drawbacks to help you make an informed buying decision.

  • Impressive List Of Features

The Tigor comes with an impressive list of features for its segment. It offers projector automatic headlamps, automatic AC, auto wipers, steering-mounted controls, reverse parking camera, 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, auto-folding ORVMs, LED DRLs and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.

  • Only B2-Segment Sedan With A 4-star GNCAP Rating

Tata Tigor is the only sub-4m compact sedan in its segment to come with a reassuring 4-star GNCAP crash-test rating. It is worth mentioning that the Honda Amaze, which is on sale in South Africa, also gets a 4-star rating but GNCAP are yet to test the India-spec model.

  • Reasonable Price For CNG Option With Class-leading Features

Tata Tigor CNG commands a premium of Rs. 90,000 over the corresponding petrol variants is Rs. 5,000 less than what Maruti charge for factory-fit CNG bi-fuel option. You can use the V3Cars fuel cost calculator to do the math with respect to your usage and fuel prices. In addition to that, the Tata Tigor is the only sedan in its segment to offer the CNG option with the top-spec variant, with all the bells and whistles.

  • Satisfactory Boot Space With Hydraulic Struts

Tata Tigor offers a large boot space of 419L, which is just a litre short of Honda Amaze’s 420L of boot space. In addition to that, the Tigor is the only compact sedan with hydraulic struts for the boot opening. The presence of them makes the functionality smoother and also doesn’t intrude on the practical space inside the boot. So, you can expect slightly better storage than what you get with the C-hinge boot lids in other cars.

  • No Diesel Engine Or Turbo Petrol Option

Tata pulled the plug on the diesel engine of the Tigor after the BS6 emission norms kicked in. Its rivals — the Honda Amaze and the Hyundai Aura continue to offer diesel engine options. The diesel engine is still a suitable choice for high-mileage buyers who travel over longer distances. In addition to that, the Tigor also misses out on a turbo petrol engine, which is available with the Hyundai Aura.

  • The 3-cylinder Petrol Engine Refinement

The 1.2L, 3-cylinder normal petrol engine in the Tigor can’t offer the refinement, which a 4-cylinder engine can offer. The Dzire, Amaze and Aura come with a 4-cylinder normal petrol engine, which offers better refinement as it is inherently balanced for a 4-stroke combustion cycle.

  • Poorly-equipped Base Variant

The XE variant of the Tigor misses out on some essential features, which one would expect in this day and age. Some of its notable missing features are day/night inside rear-view mirror, remote central locking and wheel covers.

  • CNG Mileage Figures

The Tigor CNG comes with an ARAI-tested fuel efficiency figure of 26.5kmpkg. For instance, it gives a benefit of just Rs. 2.5 per km than the Maruti Suzuki Dzire manages to deliver with the petrol engine. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG offers an ARAI-tested fuel efficiency of 31.12kmpkg, which is considerably better than the Tigor CNG’s 26.5kmpkg figure.

  • Missing Features

While the Tata Tigor comes with a good set of features like automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and keyless entry with push-button start/stop. It’d have made an even better package if it offered features like cruise control, LED headlights and front armrest.
