In this article, we’ll look at the engine specs, dimensions, ex-showroom price and features of the Kia Sonet base model.

The Kia Sonet is available in 6 variants - HTE, HTK, HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus and GTX Plus. The base model of the Kia Sonet costs Rs. 7.15 lakh for the normal petrol version and Rs. 8.89 lakh for the diesel version (all prices are ex-showroom).

Kia Sonet Base Model Engine Specs

The base HTE model of the Sonet is available with 2 engine options; a 1.2L normal petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission whereas the diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.2L normal petrol engine produces 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4200rpm. This powertrain returns a claimed mileage of 18.4kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.5L diesel engine produces 100PS of power at 4000rpm and 240Nm of torque between 1500 and 2750rpm. This engine returns a claimed mileage of 24.1kmpl.

Kia Sonet Base Model Dimensions

The Kia Sonet measures 3995mm long, 1790mm wide and 1642mm tall. The Kia Sonet measures 3995mm long, 1790mm wide and 1642mm tall. It is only narrower than the Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon in the segment. Height-wise, it is only shorter than the Maruti Brezza. The Sonet’s wheelbase is more than the Tata Nexon but less than the Mahindra XUV300 and the Honda WR-V. Ground clearance of the Sonet only falls behind the Tata Nexon whereas the boot space only falls behind the Renault Kiger. The Sonet and the Hyundai Venue are the only cars in the segment to get 15-inch wheels in the base model, one size smaller than the competition.
