VW Virtus Launched In South Africa With A New Name, 1.6L Petrol Engine | V3Cars
Volkswagen have launched the made-in-India Virtus in South Africa with a new name — Polo Sedan — and a new engine. Unlike the India-spec Virtus that offers 2 turbo petrol engine options, the South African-spec offers a sole 1.6L normal petrol engine. Volkswagen India export the Virtus sedan to various countries, including South Africa.
Volkswagen Polo Sedan Design Details
The design and dimensions of the Polo Sedan are similar to that of the Virtus. It comes with reflector-based LED headlights, LED tail lights, single-tone alloy wheels and front fog lights with cornering function. The India-spec Virtus, on the other hand, offers projector-based LED headlights and dual-tone machined alloy wheels.

Volkswagen Polo Sedan Powertrain Details
The Polo Sedan comes with a 1.6L normal petrol engine. This 4-cylinder motor produces 110PS of power at 5800rpm and 152Nm of torque between 3850rpm and 4100rpm. It comes with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The India-spec Virtus, on the other hand, offers a choice of 2 turbocharged petrol engines — 1.0L and 1.5L and a choice of 3 transmission options — 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Furthermore, Volkswagen India will soon launch Virtus GT with a 6-speed manual transmission. Currently, the Virtus GT, which comes with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, only offers the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
