Tata Punch EV Spotted For The First Time

A Punch EV test car was recently spotted parked on a flatbed for the first time. While the test car was completely wrapped in camouflage, we got to see a couple of interesting details of the upcoming electric crossover. What differentiates the Punch EV from its petrol-powered counterpart is the presence of rear disc brakes. Furthermore, the Punch EV also gets an electronic parking brake and the button for the same could be seen in the images.

Speaking of other interior details, the Punch EV comes with the same interior layout as the petrol SUV, albeit with plenty of blue inserts across the cabin. It also gets the rotary gear selector from the Nexon EV Max. Interestingly, the Punch EV that was spotted on test features a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We expect the production-spec Punch EV to boast the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition.

Tata Punch EV Expected Features

In terms of features, the Punch EV could offer a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, drive modes, multi-level regenerative braking, cruise control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, projector headlights, LED DRLs and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Tata Punch EV Expected Powertrain Details

Since the Tata Punch EV will sit below the Nexon EV Prime, we expect it to share its powertrain with the Tigor EV, albeit with a slightly larger battery pack. The Tigor EV comes with a 26kWh battery pack whereas the Nexon EV Prime packs a 30.2kWh battery. Even if we assume that the Punch EV will come with a 28kWh battery pack, it will sit very close to the Nexon EV Prime. Hence, there could be a possibility that Tata discontinue the Nexon EV Prime and leave the Max variants as the torch bearer for the Nexon EV range. This will give the Punch EV a larger area to play around and garner better sales for the carmaker.
