Mahindra Renames Electric SUV – BE 6e Becomes BE 6 | V3Cars
Mahindra have decided to rename their all-new electric SUV, the BE 6e. The decision comes after a trademark dispute with InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines.
Mahindra BE 6e Temporarily Renamed To BE 6
InterGlobe Aviation had raised objections to Mahindra’s use of the “6e” moniker, citing potential confusion with its own brand. While Mahindra argued that the “BE 6e” is distinct and clearly associated with the automotive industry, they have now opted to rebrand the SUV as the BE 6.
Mahindra emphasised that the “BE” in the name represents its “Born Electric” platform, which underpins the electric SUV. The company expressed its disappointment with the dispute, stating that it should not hinder the growth and development of Indian industries.
Mahindra have stated they will contest the trademark dispute in court. Mahindra will continue its legal pursuit to secure the ‘BE 6e’ name. Until the matter is resolved, the electric SUV will be referred to as the BE 6.
Here’s an excerpt from Mahindra’s official statement:
We however do believe the claim by IndiGo is baseless and if not challenged, will set an unhealthy precedent of monopolizing alpha-numeric 2-character marks, despite our mark being distinctive and different. This will be enormously constraining for all companies across industries and sectors. We will thus continue to strongly contest this in court and reserve our right to the brand name BE 6e.

Mahindra BE 6 – At A Glance
Mahindra unveiled the all-new BE 6 in Chennai on November 26. At the event, Mahindra announced an introductory starting price of Rs. 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom) the BE 6e base variant.
The 2025 BE 6 features a sporty and aggressive design with seating for 5 passengers. Based on Mahindra’s latest INGLO electric skateboard platform, the BE 6 shares the same powertrain options as the XEV 9e. It is offered with an electric motor mounted at the rear axle. Mahindra are offering 2 battery pack choices – 59kWh and 79kWh – for the BE 6. The larger of the 2 battery packs offers an ARAI-claimed range of 682km per charge. Mahindra say owners of the BE 6 can expect a real-world range in excess of 500km. Both the BE 6 and the XEV 9e support 175 kW DC fast charging capabilities.
