Exclusive: Skoda To Launch New Kylaq Variant Under Rs. 10 Lakh; To Plug Gap Between Classic And Signature Variants | V3Cars
According to a source with knowledge on the matter, Skoda India are set to introduce a new variant of the 2025 Kylaq. The new variant will sit between the Classic base model and Signature variant above it.

The addition of this new variant should help Skoda plug the gap between the Classic and Signature variants and give customers 3 variants priced under Rs. 10 lakh. Here’s how the introduction of a new mid variant can impact your decision while buying the 2025 Skoda Kylaq.
Incoming: New Kylaq Mid Variant Under Rs. 10 Lakh
Currently, the Kylaq’s base signature variant is priced at Rs. 7.89 lakh while the Signature variant above it costs a whopping 1.7 lakh more, at Rs. 9.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The base variant of the Kylaq gets features like 15-inch steel wheel, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, 6 airbags, ESC, ISOFIX, and rear parking sensors. However, it misses out on a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, wireless charger, and an electric sunroof.
Meanwhile, the Signature variant offers additional features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, 6.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear USB-C sockets, 4 speakers, rear AC vents, driver side auto up/down window, front armrest, rear parcel tray, rear defogger, glovebox cooling, boot lamp, and various cosmetic enhancements on the inside.
The new variant, which is set to plug the gap between the base and mid variant, could offer a mix of features from the Signature variant while looking more upmarket than the bare-bones Classic variant. We expect this new variant to cost around Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom), thereby allowing customers to buy a relatively well-equipped Kylaq for a premium of around 1.10 lakh.
Now, our source is yet to confirm if Skoda will offer the new variant with both the petrol-manual and petrol-automatic powertrain. However, considering the most affordable Kylaq petrol-AT variant – the Signature – is priced above the Rs. 10 lakh psychological barrier, we expect Skoda to offer this powertrain option with the upcoming variant. Doing so would give customers the option to pick a Kylaq automatic for Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Currently, Skoda are charging a premium of Rs. 1 lakh for the automatic transmission over the corresponding manual variant. Considering the new Kylaq petrol manual variant is expected to cost Rs. 9 lakh, we can safely assume that the new Kylaq petrol automatic variant would cost Rs. 10 lakh when launched.
Take a look at the current variant-wise ex-showroom prices of the 2025 Skoda Kylaq below:

We don't know! :-( We wish we had more info.We can't even say for sure if this will happen as plans often change. For instance, Hyundai confirmed to several media personnel in 2016 that they would soon bring the Ioniq series to India but didn't. Judging by the choice of words of the source during our conversation, it does seem highly probable. Moreover, there's money to be made by offering a slightly more expensive variant with stronger perceived value so as to push some buyer away from the currently-underpriced base variant. The prohibitively high price gap means the buyers are willing to wait rather than spend more for a higher trim. As far as buyer's remorse is concerned, there will almost always be something newer, something better. All you can do is make the best possible decision with the information available at the time and make peace with it. At least this info gives Kylaq buyers who are not in a rush to consider holding on and go back to wait-and-watch mode. -MY
