Toyota have announced significant updates and the introduction of a new powertrain option for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in India. The 2025 model year update brings enhanced safety, comfort, convenience, and a crucial transmission upgrade for the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version, with prices starting from Rs. 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

A major highlight of the update is the standardisation of safety features across all variants. The 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder now comes equipped with 6 airbags (driver, co-driver, front side, and curtain) as standard. Furthermore, select automatic transmission variants now benefit from the added convenience and safety of an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). Structural enhancements have also been implemented across the lineup for improved overall safety.

Addressing market feedback and aiming for a more premium positioning, Toyota have replaced the previous 5-speed manual transmission in the AWD V variant with a new 6-speed Automatic Transmission (6AT).

Staying in line with modern demands, Toyota has introduced Type-C USB fast-charging ports (15W) from the S variant onwards. The G variant and above now feature an Air Quality Index (AQI) display for real-time monitoring of cabin air quality. The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) has also been extended to more variants for enhanced safety and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the speedometer across all variants now offer improved readability and clearer information display. LED spot and reading lamps are now standard across the range, improving cabin illumination. Select variants also gain dual-tone exterior colour options to enhance styling choices.

2025 Toyota Hyryder Engine Options Remain Unchanged

The 2025 Urban Cruiser Hyryder continues to offer the same engine options as before.

  • 1.5L Mild Hybrid: Featuring a Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine (103PS/137Nm) with a 12V integrated starter generator. Available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions (2WD), and a 6-speed automatic (4WD). Fuel efficiency is rated up to 21.12kmpl. A petrol + CNG bi-fuel option is also available with the 1.5L Maruti-sourced engine. It produces 88PS and 122Nm.
  • 1.5L Strong Hybrid: Utilising Toyota’s 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine paired with a hybrid system and a 0.76kWh lithium-ion battery pack, this powertrain delivers 116PS of power and 141Nm of torque. This engine is only available with an e-CVT and front-wheel drive.

The updated Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder range starts at a price of Rs. 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs. 25,000 higher than the previous starting price. 

Toyota offer the Hyryder with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty (extendable to 5 years/2.2 lakh km), and an 8-year/1.6 lakh km hybrid battery warranty.

With these comprehensive upgrades, the 2025 Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder aims to not only rival its Maruti cousin, the Grand Vitara, but also best-selling SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos as well as the Honda Elevate and MG Astor, among others.
