In terms of dimensions, there’s 3 notable differences: an increase in length and a decrease in height and boot space. The outgoing Swift had a length of 3845mm, which is 15mm less than the new Swift. The new Swift is also 10mm shorter than the old Swift. In terms of boot space, the new Swift offers a 265 litre boot compared to the old Swift’s 268 litre boot. That’s a nominal drop of 3 litres in boot space.

The ground clearance of the new Swift is the same as the old model at 163mm. The old and new Swift also share the same width, wheelbase, fuel tank capacity and tyre sizes.

In terms of engine specs, the new Swift gets a major change – a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder normal petrol engine in place of the old model’s 1.2-litre 4-cylinder normal petrol:

The new Swift’s 1.2-litre petrol engine has 1 fewer cylinder than the old Swift. Despite the same displacement, the new Swift’s petrol engine produces 8.15PS less power and 1.3Nm less torque than the older 4-cylinder petrol engine. However, both maximum power and peak torque are produced at a much lower rpm than before. Hence, we expect the new Swift to offer similar driveability both in the city and out on the highway. The biggest advantage of the new 1.2-litre petrol engine in the new Swift is its improved mileage or fuel efficiency. The new Swift petrol-manual offers a 1.6kmpl improvement in mileage over the old Swift petrol manual and a significant improvement of 1.99kmpl with the AMT automatic transmission.

The new Swit 2024 gets an all-new variant over the old Swift – the VXI (O). The new Swift petrol-manual base variant costs Rs. 25,000 more than the equivalent variant of the old Swift. The VXI petrol manual and automatic variants get a nominal price bump of Rs. 15,000. The top ZXI and ZXI Plus variants of the new Swift cost Rs. 36,000 more than the equivalent variant of the old hatchback.

In terms of exterior colours, the new Swift gets 4 new monotone colour options – Sizzling Red, Luster Blue, Novel Orange and Splendid Silver. The new Swift is not available with a black colour option at launch. Like in the old model, the red, blue and white colours can be had with a black roof option in the top ZXI Plus variant.
