Tata Safari Pros & Cons
Check out pros and cons about the Tata Safari that are worth highlighting for a potential buyer. Here are some of the highlights of the benefits of buying the Tata Safari. We'll also list out the Safari drawbacks to help you make an informed buying decision.
Safari Advantanges
Best-in-Class Ground Clearance With Drive And Terrain Modes
The Tata Safari offers the best-in-class ground clearance of 205mm. In addition to that, the Safari also gets Eco, City and Sport drive modes. Tata also offer ESP-based terrain modes with the Safari to improve its off-road ability.
Respectable Fuel Efficiency Figures
The Tata Safari comes with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine with 2 transmission options — a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Both the manual and automatic options of the Safari offer a respectable fuel efficiency of 16.14kmpl and 14.08kmpl.
Only SUV In Its Segment With Rear Ventilated Seats
While having front ventilated seats is common nowadays, the Safari is the only SUV in its segment to offer seat ventilation for the 2nd row. The rear seat ventilation is offered with the captain seats variant, which only commands a negligible premium over the 7-seater variants.
Fully-loaded XZ Variant With 6 Airbags
For those who are not so fond of a panoramic sunroof, Tata offer the Safari XZ with top-class features, including 6 airbags. The option of 6 airbags without a sunroof makes it a very unique combination in the market.
ADAS Features In XZ+ (O) Variant
Following the competition, the Safari now also offers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features in its top spec XZ+ (O) variant. Those who don’t want ADAS features can choose the XZ+ variant without compromising on any other features.
Safari Disadvantanges
No Petrol Engine Option Or 4WD
Tata do not offer the Safari with a petrol engine option. If you are living in Delhi-NCR and want to keep your car for long, you will have to look at the MG Hector or the Mahindra XUV700. However, the Safari is likely to get a petrol engine option with the facelift. Furthermore, it also lacks 4WD, which its arch rival — the XUV700 — offers.
Crucial ADAS Features Missing
While the Safari finally offers ADAS features, it feels like a half-cooked implementation owing to the lack of adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. Both features are offered by the Safari’s rivals and come in handy while driving on the highways. Furthermore, the ADAS features are only available with the automatic variants of the Safari.
Stripped XE And Overpriced XM Fail To Justify Their Price
The base XE variant lacks a lot of must-have and good-to-have features whereas the XM variant feels overpriced for the features it offers. The Safari XE lacks features like a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, power-adjustable ORVMs, height-adjustable driver’s seat and automatic climate control.
XMS Variant Lacks Several Must-Have Features
The XMS variant of the Safari offers really good value but the lack of a few must-have features make it hard to recommend. These features include cruise control, alloy wheels, rear seat armrest, automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start/stop and tyre pressure monitoring system.
