Renault India made history as the first car manufacturer to drive its entire lineup, including the Kiger, Kwid, and Triber, to Umling La, the world's highest motorable road. The 1,000 km drive across Leh-Ladakh’s challenging terrains showcased Renault’s vehicles' durability and performance. The journey, which included iconic spots like Chang La and Pangong Tso, highlighted Renault’s commitment to adventure and robust engineering, reinforcing its vehicles’ adaptability to all driving conditions.

Renault India has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first car manufacturer to take its entire product lineup to Umling La Top, the highest motorable road in the world. The much-anticipated experiential drive across the breathtaking landscapes of Leh, Ladakh, was flagged off on 29th August 2024.
The drive, spanning over 1,000 kilometres across the challenging terrains of the Ladakh region, showcased Renault India’s versatile range of vehicles, including the Renault Kiger, Kwid, and Triber. This journey exemplified the durability, performance, and adaptability of Renault's vehicles in some of the most demanding driving conditions in the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations, expressed his enthusiasm on the drive stating:
We are extremely proud to be the first OEM to bring our entire product range to Umling La pass, showcasing the true spirit of adventure that defines Renault. This journey is a testament to the robustness and versatility of our vehicles, and it underscores our commitment to deliver unparalleled driving experiences to our customers. By navigating some of the most challenging terrains in the world, we have demonstrated that Renault vehicles are not just built for cities, but for any road that lies ahead.
Commencing from the city of Leh, the drive navigated through iconic destinations such as Chang La pass, Pangong Tso, Hanle, and finally, Umling La pass. Participants were treated to breathtaking views of the region’s natural beauty. The journey also included a stop at Hanle, offering a rare opportunity to engage in stargazing in one of the clearest skies on Earth, adding to the overall magical experience.
The Kwid is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen Media NAV system on the RXL(O) variant, making it the most affordable hatchback with such a feature in the industry. Further enhancing the safety, all variants now feature a rear seatbelt reminder. With more than 14 safety features as standard, Kwid comes with best-in-class safety. Further, to cater to a growing automatic buyer in the market, Kwid range introduces the RXL(O) Easy-R AMT variant positioning it as the most affordable automatic car available in the Indian market.
The Triber is an exceptionally well-engineered, spacious and modular vehicle that makes it a perfect choice for Indian families. Technological updates include a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and wireless charger, including convenience-enhancing features like a driver seat armrest and power fold ORVMs. Overall, the Triber has been positioned to offer strong value with each variant to our customers & offer customers India’s most affordable automatic 7-seater available in the market.
The Kiger elevates the driving experience with luxurious semi-leatherette seats and a leatherette steering wheel. New technological features include auto fold ORVMs and a bezel-less auto dim IRVM. The TURBO engine variant now sports red brake callipers, and the lineup is expanded with new RXL and RXT(O) variants, offering more choices for customers.
