Tata Altroz Dual-Clutch Automatic Bookings Open - No Turbo DCT On Cards | V3Cars

Tata Motors have commenced bookings for the Altroz DCT for a token amount of Rs. 21,000. The Altroz DCT will come with the 1.2L normal petrol engine and there are no chances of a turbo-petrol DCT in the near future. Along with the new DCT, Tata Motors have added a new Blue colour to the range. The deliveries of the Altroz DCT will begin in March 2022.

Tata Motors have developed the DCT in-house, keeping Indian driving conditions in mind. Hence, the DCT sports a wet-type clutch pack for better heat dissipation. After looking at the teaser, it’s safe to say that the Altroz DCT won’t offer a dedicated sports mode and only offer manual override via the gear lever.

Tata Motors will offer the Altroz DCT in three variants - XT, XZ and XZ Plus. As we stated earlier, the Altroz DCT will come with the 1.2L normal petrol engine. It could produce the same 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque, like in the standard Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. Tata Motors haven’t disclosed the reason behind not offering the DCT with the turbo petrol yet. However, we believe it could be to keep prices of the Altroz competitive in a toughly fought segment.

Tata Altroz DCT will take on the likes of the Hyundai i20 DCT and may undercut it by a big margin. Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the new Baleno with an AMT transmission instead of the CVT seen on the previous version. Currently, only the new Altroz and the i20 offer DCT-type transmission in the segment. The Volkswagen Polo gets a torque converter, the Jazz gets a CVT and the Baleno gets an AMT.
