September 2022 Car Sales Analysis - Brand-Wise YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars

In this September 2022 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the manufacturer-wise sales figures along with the YoY and MoM change for each carmaker in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend of car sales for all manufacturers.

Car Sales Analysis

Brand-Wise September 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change

  • In terms of percentage, Citroen posted the best YoY improvement of 1780% because of the low numbers in September 2021. It is worth noting that Citroen is not yet a mass volume manufacturer in India
  • Among the mass volume carmakers, Mahindra posted the best growth in September YoY comparison, with a 165% rise in sales
  • Maruti Suzuki posted the second best YoY growth of around 135%
  • The only loser was Jeep with a 15% decline in YoY dispatch numbers in September
  • Most brands posted a healthy YoY gain in dispatch numbers
  • Renault saw the least growth with just 4% increase in dispatch numbers.

Brand-Wise September 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change

  • In terms of MoM change, just about one-thirds of all brands saw a decline in sales in September over August 2022. The Remaining two-thirds saw a growth or remained fairly consistent in dispatch numbers as the previous month
  • Citroen were the top MoM gainer, with a 58% growth.
  • Toyota were the top loser with a 25% lower MoM dispatch figure.
