Rolls Royce recently unveiled the redesigned Spirit of Ecstasy, which will take pride of place on the bonnet of all their future EVs. The redesigned figurine will first make its appearance on the company’s upcoming EV, the Spectre. Rolls-Royce have said that redesigning the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy has helped them achieve a drag coefficient of 0.26 for the all-electric Rolls-Royce prototype.
The Spirit of Ecstasy dates back to 6th February 1911, when it was registered as the intellectual property of Rolls-Royce. 111 years later, Rolls-Royce have given her a retouch with longer and taller flowing wings. The redesigned Spirit of Ecstasy stands 82.73mm tall compared to its predecessor’s 100.01mm. Along with the redesign, Rolls-Royce have also launched the Spirit of Ecstasy challenge to create unique works in textile inspired by Rolls-Royce and the Spirit of Ecstasy. The three finalists will be chosen to work in the Textile field in Rolls-Royce.
Going forward, Rolls-Royce will shift to an all-electric portfolio and the Spectre is set to become the first all-electric model from the luxury brand. By 2030, all Rolls-Royce models will be fully-electric. The Spectre will go on sale in Q4 of 2023.
